Alleged sexual harassment: Natasha Akpoti has no evidence against Akpabio, says UK-based activist

Sandra Duru, a United Kingdom (UK)-based activist, popularly known as Professor Mgbeke, says Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the suspended senator representing Kogi central, fabricated the sexual harassment allegation against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Duru spoke during a live Facebook session held on Thursday night, alleging that Akpoti-Uduaghan offered her N200 million to falsely accuse Akpabio of organ harvesting.

The activist said she had audio recordings and call logs in which the senator admitted she had no evidence to back her claim against the senate president.

“So, I had to redirect her back to my question, and she then said it didn’t happen,” Duru said.

“‘I don’t have evidence.’ I told Natasha, ‘You are a pathological liar. You have disgraced us, Nigerians’.”

She alleged that the senator also tried to link Akpabio to the 2021 death of Iniubong Umoren, a young woman murdered in Akwa Ibom.

“It is wicked to try to connect him to the death of a young girl,” Duru said.

Duru said she preserved messages and recordings before the senator deleted them and has submitted all materials to authorities in the United States (US) and other countries.

She also claimed to have petitioned international security agencies, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and the Nigeria police.

“The Nigerian police should handle the case of Natasha and her false allegations,” she said.

“She said she wants to force the senate president to step down so that they can remove what they call the Yoruba government.

“She said the reason for the fight was not really about the senate president, but about the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She said they don’t want the Yoruba government to go beyond four years.”

Duru described Akpoti-Uduaghan as someone on “a mission to destroy men”.

“She is not teachable. She lacks humility and doesn’t care. If it doesn’t go Natasha’s way, you are her enemy. I cannot watch her destroy our men, our sons, and our girls who are following her blindly,” she said.

‘UNTRUE AND MANIPULATED CONTENT’

However, Akpoti-Uduaghan dismissed the content of the live stream as “untrue and manipulated”.

“I have carefully watched a livestream which was done by one Sandra C Duru on facebook, on May 1st, 2025,” she said.

“The content of the livestream including the voice effect credited to me are entirely untrue, and most manipulated to serve Sandra Duru’s ulterior motive of playing the script of Senator Godswill Akpabio.

“To the best of my knowledge, those words used against Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Dr. Abiola, FIDA and fellow Nigerians as “Gullible and Hungry” are crazy falsehood and did not emanate from the natural cause of any contact involving me.

“It was from recent research that I also found out that the person who now represents herself as Sandra Duru is the same person who operated as Prof. Mgbeke on Facebook.

“In the nearest of time, I will respond to the unfounded allegations made therein.”

On March 6, the senate suspended the Kogi central lawmaker after she had an altercation with Akpabio over seating arrangements.

On April 14, Olisa Agbakoba, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and lawyer to the senate president, wrote a letter to Akpoti-Uduaghan demanding a retraction of her sexual harassment allegation against Akpabio.

Agbakoba, a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), asked the senator to provide evidence supporting her claim that Akpabio sexually harassed her on December 8, 2023.

Responding in a letter dated April 30, Akpoti-Uduaghan criticised Agbakoba for what she described as a double standard, noting that his client’s legal team had relied on the sub judice rule to block a senate investigation, yet had now resorted to the media to demand answers.
