Mohbad’s mum: Why my son held secret wedding

Published

Abosede, the mother of Mohbad, has alleged that Joseph, the late singer’s father, is delaying the DNA test to confirm the paternity of Liam.

Liam is the son of Mohbad and his wife, Omowunmi.

Abosede also addressed the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death, including the issue with his former label boss, Naira Marley.

She stated that Mohbad kept his wedding and the birth of his child private due to the controversy.

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day. On September 21, 2023, his body was exhumed by police for an autopsy.

Aloba had vowed that Mohbad would not be reburied until the DNA test was conducted.

In a now-viral TikTok live session, Abosede said she and Omowunmi are ready for the DNA test to safeguard Liam’s identity, but “Aloba is causing the delay”.

Abosede said Mohbad never doubted Liam’s paternity while he was alive, and she sees no reason to question it now.

She recalled how Joseph took pictures with Liam a few days before Mohbad’s passing, indicating that he never raised any doubts about the child’s paternity.

“Jossy is the one delaying the DNA. We are ready for DNA. Wunmi must do the DNA because of Liam. I know he is my grandchild. When Mohbad was alive he never mentioned Liam is not his,” she said.

“Mohbad died on Sept 12. On Sept 7, I was at his house and I called the dad to come over and play with us. When he arrived, I was in the kitchen with Liam on my back.

“Mohbad told me I should give him Liam; he placed him on his dad’s lap and was taking pictures with them. He then returned Liam to me. Mohbad never denied Wunmi or Liam when he was alive. He was always giving us money for our upkeep.

“The issue between Mohbad and Naira Marley started when Mohbad requested to change his manager.

“They started beating him everywhere. The last time they beat him, he landed at the hospital. It was Naira Marley who beat him to a stupor.

“My son lived in fear all his life. It was because of Naira Marley that my son did not publicize his wedding and the birth of his son. Mohbad was a good man. He never trafficked cocaine. I am saying this with my full chest.”

Abosede further clarified that it was not Adura, Mohbad’s brother, who sent a message to actor Yomi Fabiyi about knowing the circumstances surrounding his death.

She accused Fabiyi of attempting to implicate Adura in his brother’s death.

“Concerning the person that chatted with Yomi Fabiyi, it was Damola who told Yomi that he knew what killed Mohbad. Adura arrested Damola and I went to the police station to ask him what my offence was and why he impersonated my son, Adura. He didn’t say anything meaningful,” she added.

“…Damola has confessed that he regretted what he did. Yomi Fabiyi has told Damola to implicate Adura so he doesn’t go to prison alone, I have all the evidence. Yomi Fabiyi knew that it was not Adura who chatted to him. Why is Yomi Fabiyi hell-bent on pinning it on my child?

“I had two sons and you have killed one. Nobody is mentioning Naira Marley or Sam Larry again, it is my son you are calling now because of the lies his father told you.”

Omowunmi had earlier called out Aloba for avoiding a DNA test.
