Chidinma Adetshina representing Taraba State has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, beating out 24 other contestants for the coveted title.

Adetshina clinched the coveted crown at the grand finale of the beauty pageant held at Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday night.

The 25-year-old beauty queen, who recently made headlines for her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa pageant due to a controversy over her Nigerian heritage, proved to be a fan favorite throughout the competition after accruing the highest number of votes.

As the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma will represent the country at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant, scheduled to take place later this year in Mexico.

She succeeds last year’s winner, Mitchell Ikachukwu, and will carry on the legacy of Nigerian beauty and excellence on the global stage.

Emerging winners on the night as well were Miss Anambra as the first runner-up also known as Miss Supranational and Miss Ondo, the second runner-up known as Miss Lush.

Miss Rivers, Miss Kwara also won special awards.

Miss Oyo scooped the top model award of the night while Miss Imo won Best Costume of the night. Miss Abuja also won Best Talent of Award.

In the top 10 were Miss Kwara, Edo, Taraba, Anambra, Ogun, Plateau, Lagos, Rivers, Ekiti and Ondo.

In the top five were Taraba, Rivers, Edo, Ondo and Anambra.

Being among the first three with the highest votes, Miss Taraba emerged the new Miss Universe Nigeria by the judges scorecards.

Chidimma withdrawal from the South African pageant final came a day after the Home Affairs ministry accused her mother of fraud and identity theft.

“After much careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to withdraw myself from the competition for the safety and wellbeing of my family and I,” Adetshina, 23, wrote on Instagram.

Adetshina, a law student, was the subject of vicious, xenophobic attacks on social media since she was announced as a finalist in July, with many — including cabinet ministers — questioning her credentials because of her Nigerian descent.

Falana  cries out, says some people have threatened to kill my daughter, burn my office over if I sue VeryDarkMan

Femi Falana, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), says he has been receiving threats over his decision to take legal action against VeryDarkMan, the controversial activist.

Recently, VeryDarkMan shared a purported audio conversation wherein Bobrisky, the popular crossdresser, claimed that Falana and his son Falz contacted her while she was serving a six-month sentence for naira abuse.

In the recording, Bobrisky alleged that she spoke with Falz in prison, adding that the rapper and his father “tried to get me a presidential pardon in exchange for N10 million”.

The activist, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, said he has lost respect for Falana over his alleged involvement in the matter.

Bobrisky has since denied the recording and threatened to sue VeryDarkMan for defamation.

Falana and Falz have also threatened to institute legal action against the activist if he fails to retract his comments and apologise.

Speaking in an interview with Sahara Reporters on Monday, Falana said some persons have threatened to burn his office and kill his daughter over the case.

The human rights lawyer, who had previously denied meeting Bobrisky, described the situation as “disturbing”.

“The only disturbing area in this scenario is the threat to me and one of my two daughters,” he said.

“Some of these guys, who I believe are mentally deranged, had dared me saying, ‘If you go to court, we shall burn your office’. They have also sent messages to one of my daughters that ‘If your father goes to court, we shall kill you.’

My godfather gave me N5m to pay SAN for state pardon, says Bobrisky in new tape

Embattled cross-dresser, Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has allegedly claimed he paid N5 million upfront to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in an attempt to secure a Federal Government pardon over money laundering charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bobrisky allegedly disclosed that the SAN had initially requested N10 million for the legal service but explained that he was unable to raise the full amount as his account had been frozen by the EFCC.

The revelation was made in a video shared by popular social media influencer, Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), on Monday, October 7, 2024.

VDM revealed that the call recording took place on May 16, 2024.

In the voice note, Bobrisky shared that his godfather had stepped in to assist by paying the initial N5 million.

However, he admitted that he couldn’t request more financial help since his godfather had already provided him with a well-furnished apartment near the prison.

Bobrisky also cleared up speculation surrounding his incarceration, confirming that he was not in prison as many had believed.

He admitted, “Truth be told, I won’t lie to you, you’re my person. I’m not in prison, but I’m around there. They got me an apartment because of my godfather. My godfather was able to say, ‘Never, you will not smell that prison.’

“Let the world think that, but you will never.” “So, he was able to talk to the Deputy Controller in Nigeria and he said that as long as Bob is not posting or saying anything, they can put me close to the place so I can always come inside and see people, and welcome my family. Nobody needs to know.”

Bobrisky added, “I’m supposed to finish my sentence by July, but if we get the amnesty, I could leave by the first week of next month. The SAN asked for N10 million, which I could have transferred, but my account is frozen. My godfather gave me N5 million and we sent it to the SAN two weeks ago. He has already submitted the pardon request.”

Meanwhile, some hours after the recording was released, Bobrisky took to his Instagram account to make a jocular remark.

He wrote, “Nurse Titi your patient is out again,” accompanied with laughing emojis.

This revelation followed an earlier claim by Bobrisky that EFCC operatives demanded and received N15 million to drop the money laundering charges against him.

The crossdresser alleged that her godfather, along with the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional arranged for him to serve her six-month sentence in a private apartment rather than in prison.

War in MKO’s family: Kola targeted my mother’s side… I don’t think I will be able to forgive him – Kudirat’s son Abdulmumuni

Published

Abdulmumuni Abiola, one of the sons of the late Nigerian billionaire and philanthropist, Moshood Abiola, has disclosed that his late father willed £650,000 to his first four wives.

He made the claim in a programme titled ‘Mic On Podcast’ hosted by Channels TV presenter, Seun Okinbaloye.

The video of the programme was released on Saturday.

A look at a copy of the late politician’s will which was displayed showed that Abiola’s first wife, Simbiat, got £300,000; the second wife, Kudirat, £150,000; the third wife, Moriamo, £100,000; and the fourth, Idiat, £100,000.

Abdulmumuni, son of Kudirat Abiola, accused his older brother, Kola, for allegedly refusing to give him and his sisters their rightful inheritance from their father.

He noted that the family had done a series of blood tests to know the legitimate children of the late business mogul entitled to his will.

When asked why some of Abiola’s children suffer despite the humongous wealth left behind by the deceased, Abdulmumuni said, “Let me give you some background on that. We did blood tests so we had a list of qualifying children. If you look at the will and you see how systematic it is, he names the wives and he apportions the money to them. I would like to give you some information on that. My mum was number two (Kudirat Olayinka Abiola). I think she was apportioned £150,000.

“At the time, Kola had sighted the fact that my mum died before my dad died, and because of that, British law would not allow him to release the £150,000 to us. He also said that his mum too is dead and he didn’t get the £300,000 for his mother. But you are the one sharing the money, so it’s odd…If he wanted to, he could have given us the money.”

Abdulmumuni recalled that he alongside his mother’s children was struggling to make ends meet after the loss of their parents, saying, “It would have been useful to us to have that funds.

“Not to mention my mum’s apartment in the UK, before we knew anything, Kola had sold it without telling my brothers or my sister anything about it. So you can see that they were systematic to try to impoverish my mum’s side of the family. And for that reason, I don’t think I will be able to forgive him (Kola).”

Abdulmumuni recalled that while he was eight years old, he and his siblings struggled to survive in the United Kingdom.

While one of his sisters made braids for the locals, another travelled across some American universities to make speeches.

He noted that his brother’s (Kola) actions — from his mother’s UK apartment sale without delivering the proceeds, to withholding her monetary share of the will, were “smacks of a deliberate attempt to put somebody down,” adding that other wives of the late Abiola were paid their dues while Kola targeted only his mother’s side.

“The last part of the will that applied to me and my existence has not been addressed. We couldn’t afford to buy proper shoes for school so my sister had to take me to Payless. I didn’t understand that and then I’m finding out that we had an apartment in the UK that we could have rented and could have been bringing money for both.

“I’m telling you that my sister (Kafilah) used to do braids so we could pay for food. Hafsah was making speeches at universities at, like 20, had to fly across America, just to make $100, $200,” he lamented.

Their father, Abiola, was a successful Nigerian businessman known for his polygamous lifestyle.

Abiola won the 1993 presidential election, which was annulled by the military dictator, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd.).

He later declared himself the president based on the result of the election. He was later detained.

He died in detention in 1998.

In honour of the late billionaire, former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018, moved Nigeria’s Democracy Day from May 29 to June 12 and honoured him posthumously with the highest national honour, Grand Commander of the Federal Republic.
