Subsidy removal: Mayor Dele Oshinowo flags off We-Lift Food Bank Initiative in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA

As part of its efforts to lift vulnerable and indigent households in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, the executive chairman of the LCDA, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, on Tuesday, flagged off a well-designed programme to put smiles on the faces of the people.

Tagged, We-Lift Food Bank Initiative, the programme was designed following the removal of the petroleum subsidy by the federal government.

While flagging off the program, Oshinowo, who was represented by the vice chairman of the LCDA, Mrs Folake Kayode, said the LCDA innitiated the program to provide assistance to the vulnerable households in the council area, particularly the physically challenge person, indigent and downtrodden.

At the flag off, 6,000 food packages were distributed to 6,000 households, in which was designed for the first tranche of the program.

Oshinowo highlighted the importance of the palliative distribution, acknowledging the challenges faced by the community due to the removal of the subsidy and cost of living. He emphasized the government’s commitment to overcoming these difficulties and bringing hope to Nigeria.

The food packages, which include garri, beans, rice, and yam, will be distributed across the seven wards of Agboyi-Ketu.

The vice chairman, Folake Kayode, assured that the distribution is not a political engagement, but an intention to benefit the needies in the LCDA, adding that the distribution of the food items across the seven centres would be coordinated by religious and community leaders.

Speaking, Pastor Michael A. Efukoya, Chairman of the Christian Association of Agboyi-Ketu chapter, expressed gratitude to Mayor Dele Oshinowo for his efforts in providing succour to the less privileged members of society at this critical point.

Also, Imam Mustapha Qasim, Chief Imam of Orisigun Central Mosque, appreciated and commended Mayor Dele Oshinowo and the Government at large for its commitment to assisting vulnerable individuals.

As the palliatives were distributed, recipients were urged to manage the resources responsibly and make the most of the support provided.

Members of the community expressed their heartfelt appreciation to Mayor Dele Oshinowo for his thoughtfulness and dedication in providing support to the members of the community.

The launch of the We-Lift Food Bank Initiative in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA is a testament to the power of community collaboration and the commitment to uplift the most vulnerable members of society.
