BREAKING: Wellu Wellu crooner Sammie Okposis dead

Ace gospel singer, Sammie Okposo, is dead.

The singer, it was gathered, died on Friday morning at the age of 51.

His project manager, Hillary Vincent, confirmed the sad news.

Vincent said, “Yes it’s true. It happened this morning.”

He, however, declined further comments on the singer’s demise as he did not disclose the cause of the death.

However, unverified sources on the Internet stated that the singer slumped before he was pronounced dead.

The Wellu Wellu master, as he was fondly called, was an internationally-recignised music producer, psalmist, and CEO of Zamar Entertainment.

Sammie Okposo started his music career as a soundtrack producer for Nollywood in 1992. He was well-known at that time in the small circle of Nollywood actors and producers.

He later began to get more career flashpoints when he started the Sammie Okposo Praise Party, a platform that brought many up-and-coming Nigerian gospel artistes into the scene.

The Niger Delta-born music star was known for emboldening the gospel music scene by taking his music away from the quiet confines of the church.

He released his first album Addicted in 2004.

Davido in first public outing at Uncle Adeleke’s inauguration after son’s death

Music star, Davido, stepped out in what was his first public outing on Sunday forr the swearing-in ceremony of Ademola Adeleke, his uncle, as the governor of Osun State.

Isreal DMW, Davido’s aide, shared a post of his principal’s arrival at Ede, Osun for the inauguration via his Instagram page on Sunday.

He also accompanied the post with photos of the musician and some members of his team.

“Oga, no go ever minus. We outside #aadeleke_01 Osun State Governor,” he wrote in the terse post.

In July, Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 403,371 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 375,027 votes.

The ex-lawmaker won 17 LGAs while the incumbent governor secured victory in 13 LGAs.

This will be the first time Davido would be appearing at a public function since the death of Ifeanyi, his only child with Chioma Rowland.

The three-year-old boy was said to have drowned in a swimming pool at his father’s residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos state.

Ifeanyi’s demise elicited a wave of mixed reactions on social media platforms, with many fans and celebrities paying tributes to the little boy.

Sammie Okposo didn’t slump, he died in his sleep — Management

Following the viral reports of how popular gospel singer, Sammie Okposo, died, his project manager Hillary Vincent, has denied that the singer slumped in his Lekki, Lagos, residence on Friday morning, November 25, 2022.

Many media outlets reported that after he allegedly slumped, he was rushed to the hospital, and was pronounced dead on arrival.

However, Vincent said, “It is not true that Sammie slumped and died. That report is false. At the right time, the family will set the records straight. But, I can tell you authoritatively that he did not slump. Rather, he just did not wake up from his sleep.

“As regards the funeral arrangements, the details will be made known by the family. But right now, they are still in grief and mourning the departed singer.

The singer was best known for songs such as Welu Welu, which was on his first album, Unconditional Love.

Na only You was another popular song which was contained in the album No More Drama. The album featured other gospel singers such as Kefee, Essence, Ige Samsong and Soji Isreal.

Another of his songs, Sing Hallelujah, was released in 2019, but it has continued to make waves, especially in gospel circles.

In 2020, he released Chukwu Ebube, a contemporary afrocentric worship that featured Micheal Stuckey.

Shortly before his death, he had held the Sammie Okposo Praise Party in Lagos on November 4, 2022. A day before his death, he had posted a throwback video of the concert on his Instagram page. In the video, he could be seen leading the congregation in an intense praise and worship session.

Meanwhile, tributes have not stopped pouring in for the singer. A veteran actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, posted a video of both of them together. He added the caption, “This was exactly a month ago in the US. We spent two weeks together and fellowshipped as men. Ate, drank and, as I’m known to do, teased you. Toks or Jedi, would drive you to me and we would spend the entire day together.’’

Actor Olasunkanmi Dada sworn in as Ekiti TAMPAN Governor

Frontline movie marketer and producer, Dada Olasunkanmi, was on Wednesday sworn-in as the elected governor of the Governor of the Ekiti State chapter of the Theatre Arts & Motion Picture Practitioners’ Association Of Nigeria (TAMPAN).

His election, which held at the secretariat of the chapter, witnessed unprecedented peace and display of togetherness by the practitioners who adjudged it as the best since the formation of the association.

Igede Ekiti-born Dada Olasunkanmi, who is also a prolific actor, thanked all the members for electing him as their governor with a promise not to let them down.

“I will not betray the trust repost in me by all of you,” he said.

Expectedly, members of the association turned out in large numbers dressed in beautiful outfits to witness the epoch-making event.

While addressing the members in his victory speech soon after the election, Olasunkanmi, who is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Onise Ire Films, a major films marketing firm, located in the popular Arena Market, Oshodi, Lagos, said his desire to contribute to the growth of the movie industry in Nigeria motivated him to aspire for the office.

“I want to first use this opportunity to thank all the members of our great association for electing me as their governor. I want to assure everyone of us that a new dawn has come for TAMPAN in Ekiti. I promise to do my best and to use all that God has blessed me with to ensure the growth of TAMPAN.

“I also wish to extend my gratitude to our leader and president, Mr Latin, who has done so much for the growth of TAMPAN and its members. I join several other members of the association to wish him success as he continues with the giant strides in the movie industry, We are all behind him,” Olasunkanmi said.
