‘My greatest fear about marriage’ – Newly-wed Blessing Nze

Published

on

Like in every other human endeavour, there are prizes to pay for marriage, particularly as a public figure. Newly married actress, Blessing Nze is not unaware of this, and has shared some of hers and how she has been dealing with it all.

In a recent interview, the filmmaker and script interpreter said, “Marriage has made me become more deliberate about my actions. For instance, I’m sometimes like, ‘you are a married woman, you can’t just stay out late, you can’t always go out and forget yourself’.

“If for instance I go out with my friends to the movies and we end up seeing a couple of movies late into the night because we don’t want to get home and be bored, now that I am a married woman, I can’t because I wouldn’t want to be perambulating Lagos like a homeless person. So, I think there a bit of sense of responsibility now, but not from a place of being forced, it is just me talking to myself “

As a beautiful movie star married to an equally popular colleague, Stan Nze, Blessing spills her greatest fear.

Hear her: “When people get married, they get so comfortable. It feels like a box that has been ticked but they are not really interested in servicing it as such. You’ve ticked the box and you’ve moved on so what else?

“So, I think my greatest fear will be not really nurturing my home, keeping and building my home to be that place I always want to come back to and make it a safe place for my husband. Sometimes, you see some couples fight like enemies and you begin to question why because, they used to be in love.

“So, what went wrong? Like my husband will always say, this one that this love is just doing us, hope tomorrow we would not later say ‘go to your tent O Isreal’ and I just say, ”we don’t need to work too hard to make this thing, we are already here.”

Veteran Nigerian actor, Francis Duru, has died at the age of 57.

The actor’s family announced the news of his passing on his official Instagram page in the early hours of Friday, revealing that he died following a brief illness.

“We, the family of Francis Duru, regret to announce his passing following a brief illness,” the post reads.

“We appreciate your prayers, love, and understanding. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”

Earlier in June, the actor denied viral reports claiming he was battling a life-threatening illness.

The rumours gained traction after footage showing him in a frail condition circulated widely on social media, raising concern among fans and colleagues.

In response, Duru shared an Instagram video describing the footage as “fabricated and malicious”.

Duru was born on July 27, 1969, in Cameroon, to parents of Nigerian origin from Imo state. He completed his primary and secondary education in Cameroon before relocating to Nigeria to pursue a university degree.

He gained admission to the University of Port Harcourt in Rivers state, where he studied Theatre Arts and earned a B.A. degree in 1996.

He made his entry into the Nigerian film industry in 1989 with a movie titled ‘Missing Mark,’ directed by the late Ndubuisi Oko.

His appearance in the film did little to advance his career at the time, as he was still considered an up-and-coming actor.

He gained greater recognition in the industry in 1995 after appearing in ‘Rattlesnake,’ an action-comedy produced by the late Amaka Igwe. Duru played a notable role in the film as the character Ahanna.

Over the course of his career, Duru received numerous awards and honours for his work. He was named a United Nations ambassador of peace in recognition of his positive influence on young people. In 2020, he won the :Best Actor in a Leading Role (Igbo)’ award at the Best of Nollywood Awards for his performance in ‘Mboputa’.
