It was yet another addition to the highly decorated cap of young and enterprising businessman and politician, Honorable Olumide Araoynbo.

Araoyinbo,  a former majority leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly, was recently installed as the Basorun Onisowo of Ibadanland.
Expectedly, Hon. Araoyinbo’s large base of friends and business colleagues stormed the ancient city of Ibadan and painted the town red and leaving trails of sweet stories that will be told for long.
A man of many parts, Akoko-born
Araoyinbo is a businessman, humanist, security expert, entrepreneur, investor, community leader and politician of repute.
He is the President of Akoko Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, Industry, Manufacturing and Agriculture, AKOCCIMA.
His foray into the murky waters of politics, he said was informed by his experience as a child and the determination to liberate the masses and give succor to the poor.
His international business concerns include interest in manufacturing, property development, hospitality and tourism, importation and exporting, security and mining.
Before his latest addition to a long list of traditional titles, Araoyinbo held the traditional titles of Otunba Ogbagba-Agbotewole of Idimu-land, Lagos, Olu-Omo of Irun Akoko and Otunba-Bobagunwa of Ogbagi-Akoko among several others.
The honours didn’t just come on a platter, they are all for his kindness and impactful contributions to the society. Araoyinbo is indeed a prophet honored among his own kinsmen.
Araoyinbo has equally made his mark outside the four walls of tradition. Some of his multiple awards include the Ekiti NULGE Award of Excellence and the Distinguished Entrepreneur Award by the Lions Club, Ado Ekiti.
And for his philanthropic gestures, Araoyinbo has received awards for the Most Outstanding Young Entrepreneur. He has also been honoured by the National Association of Nigerian Students [NANS] and the National Association of Akoko Students [NAKAS].
As a Parliamentarian, Araoyinbo served as the Chairman of a  very strategic House Committee on Local Government and Cheiftaincy Matters, and other Committees like Vice Chairman of Transport & Utilities, also in the Committees on Sports, Commerce & Industry, Natural Resources, and the Finance & Appropriation.

Veteran Nigerian actor, Francis Duru, has died at the age of 57.

The actor’s family announced the news of his passing on his official Instagram page in the early hours of Friday, revealing that he died following a brief illness.

“We, the family of Francis Duru, regret to announce his passing following a brief illness,” the post reads.

“We appreciate your prayers, love, and understanding. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”

Earlier in June, the actor denied viral reports claiming he was battling a life-threatening illness.

The rumours gained traction after footage showing him in a frail condition circulated widely on social media, raising concern among fans and colleagues.

In response, Duru shared an Instagram video describing the footage as “fabricated and malicious”.

Duru was born on July 27, 1969, in Cameroon, to parents of Nigerian origin from Imo state. He completed his primary and secondary education in Cameroon before relocating to Nigeria to pursue a university degree.

His appearance in the film did little to advance his career at the time, as he was still considered an up-and-coming actor.

He gained greater recognition in the industry in 1995 after appearing in ‘Rattlesnake,’ an action-comedy produced by the late Amaka Igwe. Duru played a notable role in the film as the character Ahanna.

Over the course of his career, Duru received numerous awards and honours for his work. He was named a United Nations ambassador of peace in recognition of his positive influence on young people. In 2020, he won the :Best Actor in a Leading Role (Igbo)’ award at the Best of Nollywood Awards for his performance in ‘Mboputa’.
