More than 18 terrorists have been neutralised in strikes by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), while several logistics hubs at Tumbunma Baba in the Tumbuns general area of Borno State were destroyed.

According to a statement by the military on Friday, the operation, conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), in coordination with ground troops of Sector 1, followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance,

The Military Information Officer of OPHK, Capt. Mohammed Goni, said intelligence had indicated the presence of high-profile terrorist elements using the islands as meeting points and logistics nodes.

He said further surveillance and confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations conducted from Wednesday, September 9, pinpointed several terrorist structures and logistics hubs in the area.

According to him, the intelligence-led operation culminated in kinetic strikes in the early hours of Friday, September 11, after the targets were positively identified.

“Following positive identification of the targets, the air platforms acquired and engaged the designated locations with precision munitions, with ground troops occupying all likely escape routes for further direct fire engagements,” he said.

Goni said the strikes destroyed the targeted structures and “neutralised over 18 terrorist elements”, disrupting terrorist activities and degrading their ability to use the enclave as a gathering and support base.

He said post-strike assessment indicated an estimated 85 per cent success in achieving the intended operational objectives.

The operation, he said, underscored the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations, timely ISR confirmation and the coordinated employment of air assets in synergy with ground troops.

Goni said OPHK would continue to work with other security agencies and stakeholders to deny terrorists the freedom to operate, regroup or establish logistics and support infrastructure across the North East.

“Working in concert with all security agencies and stakeholders, OPHK will continue to conduct intelligence-driven operations to deny terrorist elements the freedom to operate, regroup or establish logistics and support infrastructure across the Theatre,” he said.

No fewer than 1,050 people have died and nearly 4,000 people are still missing following last week’s devastating flooding in Nepal.

The death toll is reported to have risen to 1,050, while about 4,000 people remain missing, including 583 foreign nationals.

Also, specialised rescue teams from China, India and Nepal have reportedly built temporary bridges to reach remote areas in desperate efforts to rescue nearly 300 workers trapped inside tunnels.

Nepal’s disaster management authority ​said on Tuesday that no fewer than 639 people remain stranded in devastated hydropower stations that have become the focus of rescue efforts.

The disaster left at least ⁠2.2 million tons of debris, according to a preliminary estimate by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), including parts of buildings, rocks, and sediment.

“The amount of debris shows the scale ​of the destruction and the challenge communities face as they clear homes, roads and public spaces and begin to rebuild,” it said.

In a social media post on Monday, Prime Minister Balendra Shah said
more than 11,000 people have been rescued, and power ​and communication lines were restored in some areas,

“We did not have the time to grab anything before fleeing,” said a survivor from the hard-hit Rasuwa district, who had walked to Nuwakot with scores of other survivors. “What we were wearing is the only pair of clothes we have. And even they are wet from rain.”

On Tuesday, the Nepali Army, in a social media post, said it rescued 119 people by air, including a British national.

“So far, the Nepal Army has rescued a total of 3,891 people by air, including 273 foreign nationals,” the army said.

Meanwhile, Nepal has begun burying victims of the flood in mass graves after taking DNA samples.

According to Nepalese authorities, 1,003 bodies had been recovered, with 3,916 people still unaccounted for.

Multiple officials in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation claimed that the ICPC was misled into believing that the project office was a fake agency by some directors in the SGF office. According to the sources, a quarrel between the directors and Nwabueze prompted the former to petition the ICPC, alleging that the latter was operating a fake agency

3. The Plateau State Police Command has arrested some female students over a viral video showing them allegedly attacking another female student in Pankshin Local Government Area of the state. The command spokesman, SP Alfred Alabo, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Jos. Alabo said the Commissioner of Police, Ayodeji Faniyan, directed the Area Commander in Pankshin to investigate and arrest those involved immediately

5. The Nigeria Police Force has paraded four suspects allegedly involved in an organ harvesting and human trafficking syndicate operating in Nasarawa State. The suspects are Emmanuel Ode, 23; Dr Benjamin Oyime, 48, a nephrologist and consultant to Wellington Hospital, Life Camp, Abuja; Dr Daniel Otukpa, 53, also a nephrologist and Acting Director of Clinical Services at Wellington Hospital; and David Idoko, 25. They were arrested by operatives of the Special Tactical Squad during a sting operation on August 19, 2026, at Auta Balifi, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

6. The Presidency on Friday accused former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of being emotionally unstable to the extent of saying anything to attract and deceive the politically gullible. The Presidency’s accusation came on the heels of a statement credited to the former Vice President, who is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the 2027 general election, that he would open the country’s borders if elected president.

7. Gunmen have killed the All Progressives Congress, APC, chairman in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Ishaq Yunusa, and abducted another occupant of his vehicle. The incident occurred on Thursday along the Itobe-Ochadamu Expressway, around Ojuwo Olijo in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.

8. Three persons were reportedly killed and several others injured on Friday following a violent clash in the Ikola area of Ipaja, Lagos. The incident began with a disagreement between a commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as an okada rider, and a passenger over a N200 fare balance. The ensuing argument reportedly degenerated into a fight, during which the motorcyclist allegedly stabbed the passenger in the stomach.

9. Two persons have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a refuse dump at Ikot Effanga, along Old Odukpani Road in Calabar, Cross River State. The state Police Command disclosed this in a statement on Friday signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Eitokpah.

10. The President of Globe Legislators International, Sam Onuigbo, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 as a matter of urgent national importance, saying the stakes are higher than they were during the 2023 presidential election. Onuigbo, a former two-term member of the House of Representatives, said a second four-year term would give Tinubu the opportunity to consolidate, fine-tune and stabilise the reforms initiated by his administration.
