The controversy generated by the sexual assault case against actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, better known as Baba Ijesha, worsened on Thursday, with Comedienne, Damilola Adekoya aka Princess, reacting to the viral BBC interview granted by veteran actress Phillips popularly known as Mama Rainbow.

In the video, Mama Rainbow said she reached out to Princess to drop the case against Baba Ijesha, but she refused. In her interview, the elder actress said after everything, Baba Ijesha has now been released on bail.

According to her, “Before the matter was settled, I asked Princess for four days not to take the matter to court. I urged her not to let this matter get louder, but she refused. Bow, see how the whole thing played out.”

Princess has now reacted by describing Mama Rainbow as an irresponsible mother, a visibly angry Princess said she is ashamed of the veteran actress for her comment.

“Mama Rainbow, I am ashamed of you. You are not a good mother. I regret I ever respected you. I regret that I ever saw you as a mother and grandmother.

“You said you called for four days and that I did not answer you and that now they have released him.

“For your information, you called me just once, telling me that I should go and release him. You were instructing me and I never disrespected you. I even took my time to explain to you. You told me that Baba Ijesha called you to help him beg me that he has offended me. I then asked you if he told you what he did and you said no he didn’t.

“I then explained to you that this is what he did and you were shaking on the phone in shock. You pleaded with me to send my house address to you.”

She continued: “On the third day, you called me saying what I disclosed to you really hurt you and that you could tell I wasn’t okay, that I was crying and I wasn’t myself. You now asked for my house address so you would come and see me. I sent you the address, you never came. You didn’t come because it didn’t affect you. You felt like I wasn’t your child. You gave birth to your own children, Mama Rainbow! When your child had issues with his Instagram page, I saw how you came out to plead. That was your child. You know how to take care of your own child but because I am another person’s child, you called me and was telling to go and release a person who was in police custody for a crime.

“I was crying that day. I wasn’t happy. I explained everything to you. You were now pretending like you were a good mother. Have you come to see me since then? Have you called me since them to even check up on me? You are now saying while in court I was looking for a way to sneak out? You are an elder. What your eyes did not see you are not supposed to say it.

“You can just imagine. Mama Rainbow that I held in high esteem. If I was your child or the victim was your child, would you have done that?

“I did not expect this from you at all. You came and you were so insensitive to say you called me and were pleading for the case not to be escalated.

“How can you say such a thing. Don’t ever! Anything that concerns me please just stay away from it because I used to respect you up until this evening. It is a shame.

“If I was your child, would you come to me and say I should go and release somebody that is in police custody for a crime they are investigating? and then you go online to start saying I wanted to sneak out(of the court). Were you there? Were you with me when I was in court?

“Who are you Mama Rainbow? You are supposed to be a role model, a grandmother, a strong christian? I am ashamed of you that you can come for me in that way at your age. Are you praying for this to happen to your children or your children’s children? If this happened to you, would you handle it this way? Must you talk Mama Rainbow.

“How can you? You are an elderly woman. You should know better. You collected my home address. For what? To be sharing it among people. To be gossiping behind my back. I never said a word. Then you went online to go and say it again.

“Do you think I am afraid of you? Mama Rainbow! You are not worthy of the respect I gave to you. I Princess Oluwadamilola will stand for my child till the end. I will stand for all the other victims. I will stand for any body that has been molested or defiled. You Mama Rainbow, what do you stand for?” she said angrily.

There were lots of manipulations, fraudulent approvals under Buhari, says ex-minister, Shittu

Published

A former Minister of Communication Adebayo Shittu claims that there were manipulations and fraudulent approvals under the immediate past government of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.

Shittu served as a minister under the Buhari government but believed many persons close to the former Nigerian president manipulated things to their favour, plunging the country’s economy into a downward slide.

“Let me tell you, there were a lot of manipulations and we even heard that a lot of the so-called approvals did not emanate from President Buhari,” he said on Tuesday’s edition of Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily while responding to comments that the previous government was printing money to run the economy.

“There were a lot of manipulations and fraudulent approvals which did not emanate from the President.”

“I am telling you confidently that a lot of it did not get his attention,” he insisted. “There were a lot of people around the President who exploited their relationship with the President and conspired with the then-CBN governor.

Approvals Without Signatures

Shittu’s claims corroborated that of presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale who said many approvals for releasing funds within the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) under Godwin Emefiele did not have Buhari’s signature.

“President Bola Tinubu has come out several times in fairness to him (Buhari), to say, ‘Look, this is what happened under the previous administration’. I think we have to acknowledge the fact that he (Tinubu) understands more than anyone that many of the approvals within the CBN that brought us to this point have no signature to President Muhammadu Buhari and had no knowledge of President Muhammadu Buhari,” Ngelale said.

Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan appointed Emefiele as the CBN governor. However upon assumption of office in 2015, Buhari retained him as the apex bank boss.

He, was, however, removed in June and is being tried for charges bordering on corruption.

Shittu therefore wants Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to wade into the matter and “probe properly”.

“I hope the EFCC will probe properly as to how these things happen without the President knowing,” Shittu said.

One of the sewer workers with the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has been trapped in an underground drainage at the Onipanu area of the state.

On Monday, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Lagos Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) permanent secretary, said the adult male sewer worker was caught between the tunnel while dislodging and evacuating waste from the underground drainage.

He said the agency received a distress call to which LASEMA officers at the Onipanu base quickly responded to, adding that officers of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and LAMATA, were also deployed to the scene.

Oke-Osanyintolu said the agency provided sophisticated equipment to save the worker’s life, adding that the inflow of water was also diverted to reduce the underground water volume.

“Following an SOS message on the distress situation of a Drainage Worker, LASEMA activated the State’s Emergency Response Plans from its Onipanu Base,” he said.

“Upon the arrival of the emergency responders at the incident scene, investigations revealed that an adult male de-silting drainages along that axis in an attempt to clear a blocked portion accessed the underground tunnel and got trapped.

“Further investigation at the incident scene revealed that the man was a Drain Ducks worker employed by LAMATA, while trying to dislodge and evacuate debris from the underground drainage, unfortunately, got trapped in between the tunnel.

“In conducting the Search and Rescue Operation, the LASEMA Response Team and all Emergency Responders are working together assiduously to rescue the trapped victim from inside the underground drainage which commenced at 1625hrs.”

Providing update on the incident on Tuesday, Nosa Okunbor, LASEMA head of public affairs unit, said all efforts to rescue the drain duck worker has proved abortive.

“The rescue operation was suspended at 09:36hrs yesterday to resume today since all efforts to rescue him proved abortive. Rescue operations still ongoing,” he said.
