My curvy body, God’s creativity – Lorraine Lionheart

Published

Popular United Kingdom-based Botswanian artiste, Lorraine Lionheart, describes her curvy body as a blessing for her.

The singer, who has visited Nigeria several times to showcase her craft, said she has had fun experiences in different parts of the country.

While speaking with Saturday Beats, the hugely curvy singer said, “My curvy body is such a blessing; I cannot find anything negative honestly. God will slap me if I ever complain. I am one of His chosen ones to show off His unbelievable creativity and I am doing a damn good job. God is so happy with me. So, no disadvantages over here. In fact, the advantages increase every day.

“It’s hard to name one place in Nigeria I love because these cities have all given me an amazing feeling of home. I have had such a warm welcome in Calabar, Abuja, Lagos and Benin and I am now actually actively looking for charities and community projects to support in Nigeria so that I can also give back in some way.”

Speaking on why she is always in Nigeria to perform at ‘Felabration’ (an event in honour of the late Afrobeat singer, Fela Kuti), Lionheart said, “I can never miss ‘Felabration’. I only missed the 2020 pandemic edition. Fela has changed my life in many ways by just giving me the courage to be myself and be free to express my truth.

“He also taught me to love and embrace every part of Africa. I now have a Fela Kuti tattoo on my chest. I was just born a bit too late. If I was born during his time, I would have married him by fire by force. ‘Felabration’ is an important festival for African music. I am in the process of hosting my own ‘Felabration’ in the UK next year and I will still come to Lagos for the original one.

The ”Keke Napep’ singer said, “Love, sex and money, what comes first for me? Whichever that brings peace. The three of them can be stressful now and then. I guess any can come first; as long as I am depending on me to get them, then, there is peace. I give myself love, I perform sex on myself regularly and I make my own money.”

Veteran Nigerian actor, Francis Duru, has died at the age of 57.

The actor’s family announced the news of his passing on his official Instagram page in the early hours of Friday, revealing that he died following a brief illness.

“We, the family of Francis Duru, regret to announce his passing following a brief illness,” the post reads.

“We appreciate your prayers, love, and understanding. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”

Earlier in June, the actor denied viral reports claiming he was battling a life-threatening illness.

The rumours gained traction after footage showing him in a frail condition circulated widely on social media, raising concern among fans and colleagues.

In response, Duru shared an Instagram video describing the footage as “fabricated and malicious”.

Duru was born on July 27, 1969, in Cameroon, to parents of Nigerian origin from Imo state. He completed his primary and secondary education in Cameroon before relocating to Nigeria to pursue a university degree.

He gained admission to the University of Port Harcourt in Rivers state, where he studied Theatre Arts and earned a B.A. degree in 1996.

He made his entry into the Nigerian film industry in 1989 with a movie titled ‘Missing Mark,’ directed by the late Ndubuisi Oko.

His appearance in the film did little to advance his career at the time, as he was still considered an up-and-coming actor.

He gained greater recognition in the industry in 1995 after appearing in ‘Rattlesnake,’ an action-comedy produced by the late Amaka Igwe. Duru played a notable role in the film as the character Ahanna.

Over the course of his career, Duru received numerous awards and honours for his work. He was named a United Nations ambassador of peace in recognition of his positive influence on young people. In 2020, he won the :Best Actor in a Leading Role (Igbo)’ award at the Best of Nollywood Awards for his performance in ‘Mboputa’.
