Published

Ever since she chose the Instagram to announce the breakdown of her marraiage with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; Ọjájá II, it has been a journey from one crisis to the other for Queen Silekunola Naomi, as she continues to make the news for the wrong reasons.

The latest crisis broke erlier in the week when the former queen shared a post on Instagram that she was assaulted and harassed by a Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 17 in Akure Ondo State.

But a report by Kemi Filani has now thrown light into the lingering issue.

According to the report, Naomi’s brother, Gbenro Ogunseyi allegedly swindled some individuals who decided to drag him to an Akure police station in order to retrieve their unpaid funds from him.

With the arrest of Gbenro, Olori Naomi stormed the police zonal headquarters to effect the release of her brother. The estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife was said to have arrived there in company with her aides who were said to be unruly in their conduct.

Not a few were surprised afterward when she quickly posted it on Instagram. Obviously, she painted the Ooni as the unseen hands behind her family’s ordeal. The mum of one who had left the palace in 2021, also stated that her brother, Gbenro, was been harassed because of her.

Though Naomi wanted to be treated as the wife of the Ooni, the police insisted on treating the matter on its merit without interference.

However, putting the records straight, Adewale Adeyemi, a contractor and one of the petitioners who had ensured the arrest of the Ooni’s ex wife, explained that he was contracted by Gbenro to supply sand for the filling of a project which the Ooni’s company was handling.

Adewale substantiated his points with a petition letter written by his lawyer to the AIG, Ondo zone 17, Akure.

It reads in part: “It was our clients’ brief that the petitioner was approached by a serial swindler one Mr Gbenro who bought 32 plots of land from our client without payment and all our efforts to reach him have proved abortive as he has absconded.”

According to the petition and other reports, Gbenro fraudulently bought the said land on behalf of Ojaja Pan Africa Limited, but refused to pay the owners of the land.

NAOMI’S POST

It was learnt that Gbenro, under the pretence of working for the Ooni, convinced the land owners including one Iya Eko, to release parcels of land for the project, and he allegedly got Iya Eko to issue him a receipt to the tune of N55million.

Meanwhile, the contractor, Mr Adeyemi Adewale in another letter written to the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, proffered that his life has been threatened by Gbenro.

Titled, ‘A case of cheating and misconduct likely to cause breach of peace against Mr Oluwagbenro Akinfolarin Ogunseyi calls for investigation,’ Adewale disclosed how over N4million got trapped in Gbenro’s hands.

The letter reads, “I started the work and Mr Oluwagbenro Ogunseyi refused to pay my money despite that I also needed to pay other workers that worked for me. The commissioner of police sir, it will interest you sir that Mr Gbenro Ogunseyi had been threatening my life that I should not ask for the money again.” (sic)

To confirm the petitions and other documents, Wale Adeyemi disclosed that he had truly petitioned the police when the said Gbenro refused to pay him and he has also dragged him before the court of law. He said what infuriated him most was the flagrant rejection of all peace moves he had tried to make with him.

Similarly, an 85-year-old woman and the head of Atibiti Faaye family, popularly known as Iya Eko, said she was allegedly duped by Gbenro, as he failed to pay her N20million, meant for the second land purchased from her.

Meanwhile, the former queen mother, Prophetess Ogunseyi took to Facebook to curse enemies behind her son’s ordeal. The post has, however been brought down.

BREAKING: DSS arrests wanted Oyo motorpark boss, Auxiliary

Published

The Department of State Services has reportedly arrested the wanted former chairman of the Oyo State Park Management System, Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary.

It was gathered that Auxiliary was arrested at about 4:00 pm on Tuesday at his residence in the Olodo area of Ibadan, the state capital.

Although the reasons for his arrest are still sketchy, a source said it was because of an interview he granted on Saturday, May 4, in which he called out Seye Famojuro, a trusted ally of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for being behind his woes.

In the interview he granted to Media personnel, Ajibola Akinyefa, in the Yoruba Language, the former PMS chairman said, “If he (Famojuro) is the governor or Seyi Makinde is, we will know. It is just a matter of time. Everybody will face the consequences of their actions. The people he chose to manage the park are cheating themselves.

When asked if it was his hooliganism that led to his removal, Auxiliary queried how many people reported that he beat them to the police.

He further said that Seye would still return to Ijesha because Ibadan is not his homeland.

“Seye will still go back to Ijesha because Ibadan is not his town. Only Governor Seyi Makinde and I will remain here because we won’t run away. And I see that the bird is not working, but God feeds it. Seye will reap the seeds of his actions,” he added.

In May 2023, Auxiliary was arrested after being linked to an alleged attempt by his loyalists to cause trouble in the state following the dissolution of the PMS committee by Makinde.

An impeccable source who spoke with PUNCH Metro said the police acted swiftly to prevent a breakdown of law and order in the state, adding that during the raid, Lamidi escaped which led to him being declared wanted.

The source, who craved anonymity over fears of harassment, said, “From what we gathered, the police acted on the information that some members of the Auxiliary’s camp wanted to cause trouble based on the government disbanding their operations in the state.

“So, the police were proactive, stormed their location, made some arrests and recovered some arms and ammunition. But Auxiliary was not arrested. The people arrested were in connection with the fact that intelligence linked them to an attempt to cause trouble in the state today.”

However, attempts to reach the spokesperson for DSS, Peter Afunnaya, proved abortive as several calls made to him were unanswered and text messages ignored.
