Progress wins Nigerian Idol season 7, goes home with N100m prize

The Nigerian Idol Season 7 came to a grand ending on Sunday with Progress emerging the winner.

His victory was announced at the Grand Finale which was broadcasted across Africa Magic stations on Sunday night.

The show’s host, IK Osakioduwa, announced Progress as the winner after he battled with Zadok, for the grand prize worth N100m.

After weeks of watching the top 12 contestants singing their hearts out on the live shows to earn fan votes, Progress and Zadok emerged as the final two.

For the finale, D’banj and Simi, who are also judges for the show, performed on stage and thrilled the audience.

D’banj had a performance with the two finalists, while the season 6 winner, Kingdom Kroseide, performed with the other 10 finalists.

As the winner of the competition, Progress goes home with a cash prize of N30m, a brand new SUV, a Bigi-branded refrigerator and a year’s supply of Bigi drinks.

He will also get to record an Extended Play album produced by a leading music producer in Nigeria and a music video, a weekend getaway from TravelBeta, and a DStv Explora fully installed with a 12 months premium subscription.

Actress Rosy Meurer Churchill has revealed her secret to staying strong in the midst of scandals.

 

The movie star, who was in the news last year over marital crisis with Tonto Dikeh’s ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill, shared a photo of her and her son via her Instagram page. She stated that when people ask her how she stays so strong, it’s because her son doesn’t ever let her crown fall.

 

Rosy declared that she is forever her son’s queen.

 

“When people asks me how I stay so strong, it’s because my son doesn’t ever let my crown fall. I’m forever his QUEEN”.

 

Last year, Rosy Meurer’s marriage was hit with break-up rumours twice. First in August, anonymous Instagram blogger, Gistlover alleged that their marriage was on the rock over infidelity and domestic violence.

 

The blog claimed that Churchill hadn’t been sleeping at home and had been beating Rosy, who is the breadwinner of the family, and puts on a facade online when she praises her husband.

In December, the couple was hit another scandal as the same blogger alleged that Churchill was planning to take another wife, Lisa Yaro, and had been beaten Rosy on several occasions because of her. To further fuel the rumors, Churchill took to his Instagram page to pour praises on her.

Rosy Meurer, had also reacted to the reports by sharing several adorable family photos, as she lamented over having sleepless nights, and the difficulty of being a mother.

 

However, despite the rumors, the couple’s union continues to wax stronger as during the festive season, they celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary. Rosy penned a post to him, noting how they have had their ups and downs, and have stood the test of time. She stated that she wants to hold onto her man for the rest of her life as she considers him her best friend, the father of her children, and her hidden strength.

On Valentine’s Day in February, Rosy had reaffirmed her love and commitment to Churchill. She stated that everyday is Valentine’s Day with him as she promised to choose him over and over without a pause or a doubt. According to her, in a heartbeat, she will keep choosing them.

Davido sacks lawyer, Bobo Ajudua

Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has confirmed that he fired his lawyer and longtime friend, Prince Bobo Ajudua.

The singer confirmed the news on his Instagram story while reacting to a blog post that suggested he sacked Bobo Ajudua, over embezzlement.

Reports emerged that Davido recently sacked his long-term business partner and lawyer for embezzling $370,000.

However, reacting, the singer stated that that wasn’t the case, clarifying  that they are still friends even though they are no longer business partners.

Sharing a screenshot of the report via his Instagram account, he wrote: “This was not the case at all! We are still very good friends! In business things evolve and change all the time! Please everyone disregard this narrative.”

What this means is that Bobo has ceased to be one of the point contacts in business dealings with Davido and his record label. The reason for the firing was not specified.

Bobo went to the same secondary school as Davido, where he was his senior, and once co-managed the singer and was part of his music management team.

Autopsy couldn’t ascertain cause of Mohbad’s death – Pathologist

The toxicology test carried out on late music star, Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as Mohbad revealed that the singer’s cause of death cannot be ascertained.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Wahab Shittu, disclosed this while addressing journalists at the coroner’s inquest held in Lagos State on Wednesday.

 

According to him, the pathologist in charge of the autopsy told the coroner that the deceased’s body had decomposed by the time the test was conducted.

 

He said, “According to him (pathologist), the cause of death cannot be determined because by the time they conducted the test, the body had decomposed and that it is not possible for them to determine the cause of death.

 

“So, in summary, he is saying the cause of death cannot be ascertained. When you say the cause of death cannot be ascertained, it means it is suspicious, it is not clear. No particular reason.”

According to Shittu, the pathologist further stated that the late singer may have died due to a reaction to certain drugs administered to him before he died.

 

“He went further to say that he does not know whether it is those drugs that led to the death,” he added.
