The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says its operatives have intercepted two shipments of synthetic cannabis concealed in cargoes from the United Kingdom at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

NDLEA director of media and advocacy, Femi Babafemi, in a statement issued on Sunday, said two other consignments of the “dangerous substance” hidden in music speakers were recovered from two motor parks in Lagos, with at least seven suspects arrested.

“NDLEA operatives intercepted a UK-inbound consignment concealing 27 parcels of colos weighing 32.20kg, while a real estate agent, Abideen Jide Salami, who showed up with a secret collection code relayed from his UK-based brother to collect a large piece of luggage containing the illicit substance, was arrested on Wednesday, 9th September 2026,” the statement reads.

“A follow-up operation stemming from a second UK consignment led operatives to the designated recipient of another consignment of Colorado weighing 12.25kg. The suspect, Nurudeen Abiodun Kadiri, 44, said the consignment was sent to him by his brother in the UK.

“Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) have intercepted a music speaker rigged with three packs of Colorado at a motor park in Maza Maza, Lagos, heading to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, and ultimately Liberia.

“A tour agent, Ifeanyi Obed Augustine, 41, and the consignment’s owner, Obasi Ugochuckwu, 46, were both arrested after a swift sting operation at a nearby eatery.”

According to Babafemi, NDLEA operatives arrested several suspects linked to alleged illegal drug activities in several states across the country.

In Delta, operatives arrested Emeka Oji and Chukwuebuka Anedi after recovering ampoules of pentazocine injection, codeine syrup, tramadol, diazepam, flunitrazepam (hypniox) and MDMA (molly), concealed in music speakers.

In Kano, a raid in the Sabon Gari area of the state led to the arrest of 20-year-old Saidu Adamu with 785,000 capsules of pregabalin weighing 669.425kg.

Operatives in the Zaria-Kano-Hadejia area in the state also arrested Habibu Sabitu, 28, with 1,700 diazepam tablets concealed inside loaves of bread.

NDLEA officers recovered 186kg of skunk from the boot of a Toyota Avalon along Oke-Iya, Ijoka road, Akure, Ondo state, and arrested Paul Ogbuwala, 58, who was planning to move the consignment to Jos for onward distribution.

In Kaduna, operatives arrested Hannah Michael in the Gonin Gora area of the state with 369.6kg of cannabis.
