The Ondo state police command says it has commenced investigation into the death of three young siblings; 11-year-old twins and their sister, whose bodies were found near the bank of a small river at a farm around the Owena Army Barracks.
The command’s spokesperson, Jimoh Abayomi, who confirmed the incident, said the command was investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The siblings were identified as Joshua Jonah, 11; his twin brother, Jacob Jonah, 11; and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah.
Abayomi said the children had accompanied their father to the farm before they were later discovered missing.
According to reports, the children accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday, September 4, 2026, but later left the farm and headed home.
The father reportedly discovered that the children were missing after he returned home, prompting a desperate search for them.
But the corpses of the three siblings were reportedly found near the bank of a small river within the farm.
The incident has left the family devastated, with the loss of three children at once compounding the grief surrounding the tragedy.
The police spokesperson said the bodies had been released to their father for burial, while the police continued to document the incident and investigate the circumstances that led to the deaths.
According to him, “The Ondo State Police Command confirms the tragic loss of three siblings at a farm located around the Owena Army Barracks, Akure, on 4th September 2026.
“The victims, identified as Joshua Jonah, 11 years; Jacob Jonah, 11 years, (twins), and Blessing Jonah, five years, reportedly accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm.
“They later left the farm for home but were discovered missing when their father returned home.”
