The Governor Ademola Adeleke campaign council, Imole Campaign Council (TICC), has said it hold Senator Francis Fadahunsi, the senator representing Osun east, responsible for any form of violence against Accord members.
Fadahunsi, an All Progressives Congress (APC) senator, has been severally criticised after a video circulated on social media in which he told supporters to kill members of the Accord.
But the senator later said claimed that his comments were metaphorical, saying that he meant was for his supporters to defeat Accord at the ballot box through lawful and peaceful means.
It was later reported that the Osun police command has summoned the senator to appear before the state criminal investigation department (SCID) in Osogbo over the remarks.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Bamidele Salam, chairman of the Imole Campaign Council media and publicity committee, alleged that the video corroborated claims that thugs and fake police officers had been brought into Ilase, Fadahunsi’s hometown, as well as other towns in Obokun, Oriade, Ilesa East, Ilesa west, Atakumosa east and Atakumosa west LGAs.
He described the lawmaker’s comment as despicable, adding that, as a serving senator, Fadahunsi swore to uphold the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We also demand that security agencies flush out armed thugs and fake policemen whom we are reliably informed have quartered in Ilase Ijesha and several other parts of Ijesha land by the senator representing Osun senatorial district,” Salam said.
Salam said Fadahunsi “will be held responsible for any act of violence against any member of Accord in Ijesha land and the state”.
“We will take all lawful steps to make senator Fadahunsi account for any acts of killing and violence in accordance with local and international law,” Salam added.
