1. Security agents have intensified their surveillance on the forest where abducted pupils and teachers from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State are held by their Ansaru terrorists, it was learnt at the weekend.

Because of the condoning off of the forest, the abductors are under intense pressure which has now made them to relax their demands, it was gathered.

2. The Nigeria Customs Service will lose 1,516 officers nationwide over the next two years following the release of statutory retirement lists covering 825 officers in 2026 and 691 officers in 2027. The retirement notices were contained in two restricted circulars issued by the Service’s Human Resource and Development Department and signed by the Comptroller, Establishment, A.A. Bazuaye, on behalf of the Deputy Comptroller-General, Human Resources and Development

3. Barely one week after the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, announced former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, as his vice presidential candidate, the party may be headed for another crisis.
Checks revealed that party chieftains loyal to Atiku and supporters of Amaechi were quarrelling over the choice of the VP candidate, as the former called for his replacement

Ogun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a former Ogun State Television broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Owode-Egba area of the state. The command, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident on Sunday.

5. Suspected terrorists have abducted a resident, identified as Yusuf Bazamfare, and set ablaze a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps outpost, a brothel, and one residential building during an attack in Kebbi State. The attack occurred on Saturday night in the Tsamiya community in the Bagudo Local Government Area of the state. The incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the spokesperson of the Kebbi State Police Command, Bashir Usman.

6. Edo State Security Corps has arrested 14 suspects in connection with a cult-related killing in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State. It was gathered that last week, tension heightened at Abiodun Motor Park, Jattu Junction, as residents, commuters, and business owners ran for their lives after suspected cultists shot and killed a middle-aged man.

7. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested two elderly men, aged 84 and 75, for allegedly supplying and selling illicit drugs to teenage secondary school students in Umuahia, the Abia State capital. The suspects, identified as 84-year-old Godfrey Orji and 75-year-old Godwin Obulunbiya Obiora, were arrested in separate operations by operatives of the agency.

8. Substantial part of tomorrow’s emergency session will be devoted to deliberations on the worsening security situation across the land, Senator spokesman Yemi Adaramodu said last night. The Ekiti South senator told The Nation that lawmakers in the Red Chamber will decide on the measures needed to support efforts to curb rising kidnapping, terrorism and other violent crimes.

9. Ekiti State Governor and Governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji,non Sunday held a closed-door meeting with the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the June 20 election, Wole Oluyede, at his Ikere-Ekiti countryhome. The meeting was attended by the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele and some leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

10. Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested three women suspected of collaborating with terrorists in an Internally Displaced Persons, IDP camp in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State. Operational report made available to NAN on Sunday, revealed that the operation was carried out by troops of the 222 Battalion.
