The speaker of the Rivers assembly, Rt. Hon Martin Amaewhule, and other loyalists of Nyesom Wike, the FCT minister, were on Saturday elected as candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for house of representatives seats.
The APC conducted primary elections across the 13 federal constituencies in the state.
The results were announced at the party secretariat in Port Harcourt by Wahab Owokoniran, chairman of the election committee.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including Johnson Sinikiem, resident electoral commissioner in Rivers, were present during the collation and announcement of the results.
Amaewhule was elected unopposed as the APC candidate for Obio/Akpor federal constituency I after polling 17,968 votes.
“In this case, we only have one aspirant, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule. He scored 17,968 votes,” Owokoniran said.
In Port Harcourt federal constituency I, Igwe Precious secured the APC ticket unopposed after polling 5,885 votes.
Dumnamene Dekor won the APC ticket for Khana/Gokana federal constituency after polling 17,073 votes to defeat Israel Ngbuelo, who scored 1,220 votes.
Cyril Hart won the Degema-Bonny federal constituency primary with 7,203 votes, defeating Philemon Tombodiea, who polled 1,020 votes.
Felix Nweke emerged unopposed in the Eleme/Tai/Oyigbo federal constituency primary after polling 18,605 votes.
In Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru federal constituency, Isobo Solomon defeated Luke Enerine after polling 11,303 votes.
Other winners announced by the APC include Chukwuemele Obuzor for Ahoada West/Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni federal constituency, Fredrick Apiafi for Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro federal constituency, Chibuzor Nwamaka for Etche/Omuma federal constituency, and Joy Nyebuchi for Ikwerre/Emuoha federal constituency.
Blessing Amadi won the ticket for Port Harcourt constituency II, Linda Steward won in Okrika/Ogu-Bolo federal constituency, and Solomon Bob won Abua-Odual/Ahoada East federal constituency.
Earlier, the APC had disqualified four aspirants aligned with Siminalayi Fubara, Rivers state governor, including three serving members of the house of representatives.
