Police nab man with fresh human head, palms in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 43-year-old man with fresh human remains reportedly intended for ritualistic purposes.

The suspect, identified as Idowu Ashafa, was apprehended in the early hours of Friday, April 17, 2026.

The suspect was arrested during a routine patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Solotan K. Owolabi, whose team intercepted Ashafa carrying a suspicious nylon bag.

Upon inspection of the bag, officers discovered a gruesome assortment of remains, including a fresh human head and two human palms.

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, spokesperson of the command, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.

He explained that preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect allegedly exhumed the remains from a grave at Ido Itekun Village, Igbesa, for ritual purposes.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly exhumed the remains from a grave at Ido Itekun Village, Igbesa, for ritual purposes,” the statement said, adding that the implement used in the act was recovered.

It added that the scene was visited and documented, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling crime in the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
