A compressed natural gas (CNG) bus exploded in Mando motor park in Kaduna state in the early hours of Sunday.
The fire from the CNG bus reportedly affected no fewer than two luxury buses parked in the motor park.
According to reports, the incident happened around 3am on Sunday.
A statement by Mansir Hassan, Kaduna police spokesperson, said the luxury bus, belonging to Silver Luxury Travel, exploded due to overfilled gas tank.
Hassan said no casualty was recorded during the incident, adding that police detectives have been mobilised to the area.
“On 5th April, 2026, at about 0300 hours, a loud sound was reported at Silver Luxury Travel, a luxurious bus traveling company, located at Mando motor park, where vehicles used gas instead of diesel or petrol,” the statement reads.
“Preliminary findings revealed that the incident involved an LNG-propelled luxury bus belonging to Silver Luxury Travel, which exploded due to overfilling of its gas tank
“The vehicle has since been evacuated to a safe location, and the area secured. No casualties or loss of property were recorded, and normal activities have resumed in the area.
“The commissioner of police Kaduna state command, Cp Muhammad Rabiu Psc, mni, has since ordered a full Investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident to avoid future occurrence and bomb disposal unit of Nigeria police force has been dispatched to the scene.
“The Kaduna State Police Command urges members of the public to verify information before sharing, particularly on matters relating to security, as the spread of unverified reports can cause unnecessary panic.”
