President Bola Tinubu has condemned the recent deadly attacks by gunmen in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, Plateau State, and Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, describing them as barbaric, cowardly, and an assault on the nation’s peace and unity.
In a statement issued on Monday by Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu vowed that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.“Anyone who sneaks under the cover of darkness to kill defenceless citizens, as seen in Jos and Kahir village, is a heartless coward.
These attacks are designed not only to inflict pain but also to trigger a cycle of reprisal and further bloodshed,” he said. The President directed security agencies to intensify intelligence-led operations to track down the attackers and ensure their swift prosecution.
He also ordered urgent efforts to rescue all abducted victims still in captivity. Tinubu further cautioned against misinformation and unverified narratives capable of escalating tensions, warning sections of the media against framing the attacks in ways that could inflame religious or ethnic divisions.
He stressed the need for stronger community cooperation with security agencies, including compliance with evacuation and security advisories where necessary.
The President welcomed the safe return of two of the kidnapped victims in Kaduna and urged security agencies to act decisively to secure the release of the remaining abductees.“I urge our security agencies to be more proactive by acting on credible early-warning intelligence.
“All remaining abductees from Kahir village must be rescued without delay,” he said.
Tinubu commended the efforts of Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State in managing the security response and supporting ongoing rescue operations.
“I assure the people and governments of both states of my full support. I extend my condolences to the families of the victims and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,” he added.
He also disclosed that the Federal Government is strengthening the capacity of security agencies with more advanced equipment to enhance real-time tracking and neutralisation of criminal elements nationwide.
