1. Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party governors – Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Bala Mohammed (Bauchi) – met with the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Senator Seriake Dickson and former Kano State Governor and 2023 New Nigeria Peoples Party presidential aspirant, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as reconciliation efforts between the governors and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike’s bloc stalled.

2. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday in Lagos State said his administration will intensify efforts to tackle the challenges of insecurity across the country, assuring that the safety and well-being of citizens featured at the meetings held in the United Kingdom. He stated that the “next phase of our struggle is staring us in the face, and that is the challenge of insecurity in the country”.
3. Gunmen on Sunday attacked a worship centre during service in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State. The incident occurred at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Omugo community, where worshippers had gathered for their regular Sunday service.
4. President Bola Tinubu has warned that the Middle East crisis, triggered by the escalating tensions between the US, Israel and Iran, could push up inflation and erode Nigerians’ purchasing power.

5. The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it has fixed Tuesday, March 24, for the screening of aspirants for its national offices ahead of its March 27 National Convention. A notice issued by the Secretary of the party’s Aspirants’ Screening Committee, Alhaji Isa Yuguda, on Sunday in Abuja, stated that the exercise would hold at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel.
6. The 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, visited Kano on Sunday to meet with former Kano State Governor and political heavyweight, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The meeting at Kwankwaso’s residence also saw the presence of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Senator Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State and prominent activist Naajatu Mohammed.

Ahead of the party’s governorship primaries scheduled for next month, 31 governors of the All Progressives Congress, APC, under the aegis of Progressive Governors Forum, PGF, on Sunday held a crucial meeting in Lagos on the state of the nation. It was gathered that one of the key issues for deliberation is the focus on holding a rancour free, successful party’s primaries.
8. The Nigeria Governors Forum on Sunday said it has submitted its contribution on the proposed state police framework to the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, with the document expected to be transmitted to the National Assembly.
The NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, disclosed this during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos.
9. The Nigerian Navy has intercepted about 44,000 litres of suspected illegally refined petroleum products and arrested eight suspects in Rivers. This is contained in a statement on Sunday in Abuja by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Abiodun Folorunsho.

Ten distribution companies (DisCos), including Eko Distribution Company and Ikeja Electric (IE), which supply electricity to the nation’s commercial nerve centre, received zero allocation of electricity as of 19:22 hours on Sunday.
