1. The Senegalese Football Federation has rejected the decision of the Confederation of African Football Appeal Board awarding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title to Morocco and confirmed it will challenge the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Morocco were on Tuesday crowned champions of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after the Confederation of African Football Appeal Board overturned the result of the final against Senegal, ruling that the West African side forfeited the match following a walk-off during the game in Rabat on January 19.

Security chiefs have relocated to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, to take charge of the security situation following Monday night’s coordinated suicide bombings that killed 23 people and injured 108 others. President Bola Tinubu, who on Tuesday ordered the immediate relocation, described the attacks as “desperate and frantic attempts” by terrorist elements under constant pressure from security forces
3. Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his commitment to support the reelection of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027, declaring that he would actively work for the President’s second term bid. Adeleke said the lingering crisis over the control of local government areas in Osun State would not affect his earlier endorsement of Tinubu.
4. The Federal Government has declared Thursday, 19th March and Friday, 20th March 2026 as public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, which signifies the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement by Dr Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary in the ministry, on Tuesday.
5. The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on Muslims across Nigeria to begin the search for the Shawwal crescent, which will signal the end of Ramadan and the commencement of Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. The directive was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Sultanate Council of Sokoto and signed by the Wazirin Sokoto and Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sambo Wali Junaidu.
6. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed all political appointees in his administration seeking to contest elective positions in the 2027 general elections to resign their appointments on or before March 31, 2026. The directive, announced on Tuesday in a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF, is aimed at ensuring compliance with electoral laws and safeguarding the integrity of the political process ahead of the polls.
7. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Tuesday night pushed back against reports that it sought a fresh court order to extend the detention of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, saying the claims are inaccurate and misleading.
8. At least 15 people have been killed after suspected bandits clashed with community guards and vigilantes in Falele village, Daddara district of Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina State. The attack reportedly occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, when bandits stormed the community, triggering a gun battle with local security volunteers.
9. A former Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, Philip Aduda on Tuesday met behind closed-door with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and members of the party’s National Working Committee. The meeting took place at the Muhammadu Buhari House, APC National Secretariat, Wuse II, Abuja. He is reportedly joining the ruling party.
10. The factional National Executive Council, NEC, of the Labour Party has disbanded the Nenadi Usman-led Caretaker Committee, restating its backing for the National Working Committee, NWC headed by Mr Julius Abure. This was disclosed in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by the Secretary of the NEC Forum, Alhaji Abdulrahim Chindo.
