1. The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has expressed disappointment over the resignation of Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, describing the move as a betrayal of the mandate given to him by voters.
In a statement issued on Friday, Ladipo Johnson, NNPP national publicity secretary, said Yusuf was elected on the strength of his long association with the Kwankwasiyya Movement and the trust of the people of Kano state
2. The house of representatives minority caucus says it has discovered “illegal” alterations in the gazetted copies of the tax reform laws. In a statement issued on Friday, Afam Ogene, chairman of the seven-member committee set up by the caucus to probe the alleged alterations, said a review of the Acts showed that different versions are in circulation.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, on Friday in Lagos uncovered an illegal factory producing fake “Goya oil” and dismantled a major syndicate involved in the counterfeiting of alcoholic drinks in Lagos, warning that the activities pose grave dangers to public health. The agency said the discoveries were made during surveillance and enforcement operations carried out over the past few weeks.

Addressing party supporters at his residence in Kano shortly after the state governor’s resignation, Kwankwaso said his long-standing political struggle had always been aimed at the emancipation of ordinary Nigerians.

The Rivers State High Court Oyigbo Division sitting in Port Harcourt on Friday suspended its order restraining the state’s Chief Judge from acting on the request of the State House of Assembly to set up a panel to probe allegations of misconduct against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu. The court adjourned indefinitely its hearing of the suit filed by the governor and the deputy governor challenging the impeachment process initiated against them by the State Assembly.
A Nigerian, Gideon Eze, detained for six weeks in Doha, Qatar’s capital city, has cried out to the Federal Government and its relevant agencies to intervene in his case to reverse the injustice done to him. Eze’s lawyer, Inibehe Effiong said Eze had boarded Qatar Airways’ flight from Abuja to the United States on May 7, 2025 but had his trip aborted in Doha due to a profiling and mistreatment incident that resulted from a routine airport security check.
