‎1. There may be a showdown between the security forces and the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protesters today (Monday) following plans by the organisers to march on the Presidential Villa to pressure the government to release from custody Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the  Indigenous People of Biafra.

2. The marriage between Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, came under public scrutiny at the weekend. This followed a series of viral videos and social media posts in which both parties levelled accusations against each other.

3. Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have launched a deadly ambush on security forces in Kashimiri village, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, killing the Commanding Officer of the 202 Battalion, five soldiers, and three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force. Several other soldiers, including the Commanding Officer of the 222 Battalion, Konduga, sustained injuries, while one soldier was abducted by the assailants.

4. The Zamfara State Government has approved the reinstatement and payment of seven months’ salary arrears for 103 teachers earlier affected by the verification exercise conducted by the Ministry of Education, Science and lTechnology. Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Malam Wadatau Madawaki, disclosed this while briefing journalists.

5. The Federal Government has said Mathematics is a compulsory subject for all students sitting for O-Level examinations. This was conveyed in a press statement issued by Boriowo Folashade, spokesperson for the Federal Ministry of Education, on Sunday.

6. A 22-year-old woman, identified as Odama Mary Agado, has reportedly taken her own life by drinking a substance suspected to be Sniper after she allegedly caught her boyfriend with another woman. Mary, who hailed from Woleche-Ipuole in Yahe Ward, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, was until her death a resident of Enugu, where she operated a hairdressing salon.

7. There was pandemonium on Saturday after some yet-to-be-identified gunmen stormed the military barracks in the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State and shot dead a butcher identified simply as Ridwan. It was learnt on Sunday that the attack occurred around 8 am in the Mammy Market section of the barracks.

8. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have seized consignments of illicit drugs hidden in frozen snails, electrical bulbs, and female clothes bound for the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. According to a statement on Sunday by the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the interceptions were made at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and a courier company in Lagos.

9. An Islamic cleric, identified as Folorunsho Olaoti, has been arrested for allegedly brutalising a 10-year-old boy living with him in the Akerebiata area of Ilorin East Local Government Area, Kwara State. It was gathered on Sunday that the incident occurred on Thursday, when the cleric allegedly beat the boy mercilessly after accusing him of reporting to his mother that someone had spoken ill of her.

10. The Independent National Electoral Commission has issued a notice of the November 8 governorship election in Anambra as required by the Electoral Act. Mrs Ugomma Lechukwu, INEC Public Relations Officer, in the state issued the notice briefing newsmen on Sunday in Awka, on Sunday.
