The house of representatives has moved to probe Alex Ikwechegh, a member representing Abia north/south federal constituency of Imo state, for assaulting Stephen Abuwatseya, a Bolt driver.

During plenary session on Tuesday, the house referred Ikwechegh to the committee on ethics and privileges after a “point of privilege” was moved by Julius Ihonvbere, the majority leader.

Ikwechegh, a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), made headlines for slapping and hurling insults at Abuwatseya

In a viral video, Ikwechegh, who represents Aba north and south federal constituency of Abia state, is seen in a heated exchange with the driver whom he accused of disrespect for asking him to approach the car to receive his package.

The incident occurred on October 27 in the Maitama district of Abuja.

The federal capital territory (FCT) police command had invited Ikwechegh for questioning.
