1. Former militant warlord, Mujahid Asari Dokubo, says President Bola Tinubu has betrayed him. In a trending video, Dokubo, who campaigned actively for the president, said despite working for Tinubu’s emergence, he has been neglected. He vowed to ensure that President Tinubu fails his next election.

 

2. The Nigerian Meteorological Agency NiMet has predicted haziness and sunshine from Sunday to Tuesday across the country. NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Saturday, forecast moderate dust haze in the northern region on Sunday (today)with horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km.

 

3. Hoodlums have vandalized electrical installations and stolen electric cables in Anguwan and Gangare communities in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. The outage began on Monday, following the tripping of 330KV circuit transmission lines between Benue and Enugu states, a development that has affected most northern states, including Plateau State.

 

4. The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), has declared candidates of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) as winners of the Saturday’s elections in all the 44 Local Government Areas and 484 wards. Prof. Sani Malumfashi, KANSIEC Chairman, disclosed this on Saturday in Kano while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the elections.

 

5. The Senator representing Borno South, Mohammed Ali Ndume, has asked President Bola Tinubu to sack more ministers who are underperforming to fasttrack the implementation of his “Renewed Hope” agenda for the country. In a statement on Saturday, Ndume described the rejigging of the federal cabinet, and the establishment of the ministry of regional development to oversee all regional commissions in the country as a welcome development.

 

6. A 23-year-old woman, Precious Yusuf, has been found dead along the DLA Road in Asaba, the Delta State capital, after meeting with a male friend whom she met on a dating website called iHappy. According to a statement on Saturday by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, Precious’s body was discovered on Thursday along the road, and the police were alerted.

 

7. The Borno State Police Command has arrested six notorious kidnappers and armed robbers who have been terrorising the Magumeri and Konduga Local Government Areas of the state. In a statement released on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, said the command also recovered about N2,637,000 from the suspects, who have also been extorting villagers under the guise of tax collection.

 

8. No fewer than 40 people are feared trapped after a collapse on Saturday in the Sabon Lugbe area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Sympathisers and emergency workers are onsite, working to rescue those still caught beneath the debris.

 

9. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has awarded the Super Eagles three points and fined the Libya Football Federation 50,000 USD. This was contained in a statement by the football body. In the statement signed by Ousmane Kane, Chairperson of CAF Disciplinary Board, the Governing body ruled on the botched Africa qualifiers between Nigeria and Libya.

 

10. The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) says the Blue Line train operations will resume on Sunday morning after it was disrupted by fire. Mr Kolawole Ojelabi, Head, Corporate Communication, LAMATA, disclosed this in a statement.
