1. Operatives of the Kano State Hisbah Command have arrested Auwal Danladi Sankara, Commissioner of Special Duties in Jigawa State, for allegedly committing adultery.

The Kano State Hisbah Board confirmed the arrest and detention of Sankara on Friday, stating that he would be charged in court on Monday.

2. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ijanikin Police Station, Lagos State Police Command, CSP Bolaji Olugbenga, has passed away.

The DPO reportedly collapsed in his office and died before he could be rushed to a hospital on Thursday night.

3. Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed concern over rulings on political cases by some courts in the country, saying the situation does not bode well for democracy.

Jonathan, speaking at the 67th birthday celebration of Senior Advocate of Nigeria Prof. Mike Ozekhome in Abuja, described some judgements on election matters as “like turning a cone upside down.”

7. No fewer than 170 people have been confirmed dead following a tanker explosion in Jigawa State on Tuesday.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Adam, stated on Friday that 70 others remain critically injured and are receiving treatment in various hospitals.

8. The Enugu State Police Command has announced the killing of two suspected kidnappers during a raid on their hideout on Thursday.

The operation, which took place in Nokpa-Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area, also resulted in the rescue of a kidnapped victim.

9. Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command arrested 27-year-old Imole Ajayi, who was accused of armed robbery, from Area 5, Iperin OPIC Estate in the Agbara area of the state on Thursday.

The police patrol team apprehended the suspect around 8:30 pm during a stop-and-search operation on Orita/Idi-Oke Road, Igbesa in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

10. Abia North Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has reiterated his support for a single six-year term for presidents and state governors, arguing that such an arrangement would reduce the cost of governance and promote rapid development.
