Popular gospel musician, Dele Gold is dead — one month after death of fellow artiste Aduke Gold

Gospel singer Dele Agbeyo, popularly known as Dele Gold, has passed away.

The self-proclaimed “Miliki Gospel King,” Dele Gold hailed from Usi, Ekiti State, but grew up in Faforiji, Osun State. He reportedly died on Wednesday after a brief illness.

His death has been confirmed by several of his colleagues, including Titi Oguntoyinbo, Akinlabi Major, Alayo Melody Singer, and Wonder Doyin Kujore, who expressed their shock and sorrow on social media.

Titi Oguntoyinbo wrote on Facebook, “Lord, this is a rude shock to me, hmmm.”

Akinlabi Major also posted, “Let someone tell me this is not true. RIP Dele Gold.”

On Instagram, Alayo Melody Singer shared his disbelief: “Dele Gold Kee??? Ahh, this is getting too much ooo!!! May God help us stop untimely deaths. Dele Agbeyo, may your soul rest well.”

Wonder Doyin Kujore took to Facebook, stating, “Nothing is in this world; let us live today and leave tomorrow for God. I find it difficult to post about people who die prematurely because it saddens my heart, but I just have to pay my last respects here. Hmm… this life is full of vanity. Rest on, Dele Agbotikuyo, Dele Gold.”

Dele Gold was known for his collaboration with Juju music legend Ebenezer Obey on his album in 2019.

His passing comes just a month after the death of fellow gospel singer Aduke Ajayi, popularly known as Aduke Gold, who died while undergoing treatment for cervical cancer.

Davido to perform at UN general assembly event

Davido, the Afrobeats star, is set to perform at an event hosted by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Headquartered in New York, the UNGA is one of the six principal organs of the UN, serving as its main deliberative, policymaking, and representative organ.

In a post via X on Tuesday, Davido announced he will be performing at one of the events at the UNGA tonight.

The Grammy-nominated artiste also urged his fans to anticipate his performance.

Davido’s announcement comes a few days after DJ Cuppy, the Nigerian disc jockey, made history at the UNGAShe hosted an opening session at the event.

During her session, Cuppy emphasized the importance of engaging young people worldwide in meaningful conversations

She revealed her passion for quality education — the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4).

After her keynote session, Cuppy also gave a musical performance at the event.

With strings of awards and honourary mentions, Davido has established himself as one of the leading names in the Nigerian music industry.

UPDATED: How popular Islamic singer Rukayat Gawat died

Popular Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso is dead.

Rukayat was well-known for her captivating voice and religious music that resonated with many in the Muslim community.

 

The news of her death was shared by popular Ilorin-based cleric Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah on his official Facebook page on Tuesday morning.

 

Her loss is deeply felt among her fans and the broader Islamic music scene – with the news of her death widely shared.

 

Meanwhile, a family member and a brother to the deceased, Jubril A Gawat has confirmed this sad news.

 

Jubril, who is a Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu quoted a Quran verse on his X account on Tuesday morning.

His post read, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” Q 2 V 156

His post has garnered so much traction with followers and associates expressing their condolences.

Meanwhile, a colleague of the deceased, Alhaja Misturah Aderounmu, popularly known as TeminiSuccess1 via her TikTok account posted on Monday afternoon a post about the vanity of life.

Reactions from fans were uncertain as to what prompted her post not until this morning when the news of Gawat’s death went viral.

 

Her post captioned in a video of her being morose read, “In the spirit of hustling, may we not be brought home dead.”

RUKAYAT GAWAT

Rukayat Gawat is the daughter of popular broadcaster and Islamic presenter, Alhaji Rasaq Aremu Gawat who mysteriously disappeared with no details of his whereabouts known until now.

It would be recalled that some years ago, the whole nation was gripped with the terrible news that popular Islamic broadcaster, Aremu Gawat, was missing. The TV presenter was said to have left his office on July 6, 2012, and nothing has been heard from him since then.

In a 2019 interview, she said she would rather quit music rather than go secular.

Born in Lagos Island, the late artiste who hailed from Igbaja, Kwara State, is married to Alhaji Shakiri Oyefeso.
