UPDATED: NJC recommends Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as CJN

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointment as chief justice of Nigeria (CJN).

 

The recommendation was made during its 106th meeting on Thursday presided over by Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the outgoing CJN.

Ariwoola will bow out of office on August 22, having attained the mandatory retirement age of 70.

The NJC also recommended 27 candidates for appointment as judges of state courts and one as Kadi of the Sharia Court of the FCT, Abuja.
