Youths of Ijaw extraction, on Tuesday, took over the entrance to the council headquarters of Port Harcourt Local Government Area in Rivers State.

A report by Channels Television captured the youths in multiple canopies, chanting songs, dancing, and waving the Ijaw Youth Congress flags.

Placards at the canopies boldly display solidarity messages for Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.

There is a heavy security presence in the area as armed policemen are also on the ground monitoring the situation.

The council gates are however shut as today is a public holiday. But the Chairman of the Eastern Zone of the Ijaw Youth Council says he and his members are to show solidarity with the governor and that no chairman will be allowed to stay beyond their tenures.
