1. The Senate will on Tuesday, today, screen the acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr Olayemi Cardoso, for confirmation into a substantive capacity, alongside four nominees for the positions of CBN Deputy Governors, to steer the affairs of the apex bank for the next five years.

2. The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has accused the Federal Government of delaying the negotiations on post-subsidy palliatives for workers four months after the removal of the fuel subsidy which has compounded the hardships in the country. In response to the perceived lethargy of the government, the organised labour will on Tuesday (today) hold an emergency National Executive Council meeting where it will take decisions on its next steps.

3. President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, pleaded with a United States District Judge, Nancy Maldonado, to order Chicago State University to protect his privileged information such as admission records, transcripts and gender and release only his certificate to the legal team of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. The motion was filed by the president’s lawyer, Christopher Carmichael.

4. The President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, on Monday, bemoaned the volume of lawsuits emanating from elections in the country, saying it is preventing judges from dealing with other cases, including those bordering on the economy. The Appeal Court President noted that from the 2023 general elections, 1,209 petitions arose, necessitating the setting of 98 panels of judges to adjudicate on them.

5. The Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal on Monday affirmed the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and dismissed the petition of the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, who challenged the return of Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.

6. The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approached the State High Court, sitting in Akure, to stop the impeachment process initiated by the State House of Assembly against him. In the suit number filed on Monday by Mr Ebun Adenoruwa, SAN, the deputy governor asked the court to stop the impeachment process against him pending the hearing and determination of the suit that he has filed in court.

7. The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, September 27, 2023, as a public holiday in commemoration of Eil-ul- Maulid celebration. The celebration signifies the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

8. Director of Press and Information of the Supreme Court, Dr Festus Akande says the fire incident that happened on Monday morning at the Court’s building did not affect the documents on the presidential election petition. A section of the apex court was burnt down on Monday.

9. The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday carpeted Phrank Shaibu, Special Assistant on Public Communications to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, over his claim on Sunday that President Bola Tinubu’s administration thrives on lies and deceits. In the statement tagged ‘The 10 lies of the APC-led federal government’, Shaibu blasted Tinubu for allegedly using propaganda to deceive Nigerians.

10. The Benue State Police Command has said it has begun a search for the kidnapped State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Matthew Abo, who was abducted on Sunday by gunmen. The spokesperson for the State Police Command, Catherine Anene, who disclosed this on Monday, said that the command was doing everything possible to rescue the kidnap commissioner.
