Rice-less West Ham sink Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino has tasted his first defeat in charge of Chelsea after West Ham striker Michail Antonio delivered a brutal lesson to Chelsea’s new-look defence before Lucas Paqueta added the gloss with a 95th-minute penalty.

Jamaica star Antonio capitalised on some loose play from Axel Disasi to help earn David Moyes’ side three points at London Stadium. Defender Nayef Aguerd had given the home side an early lead – only to be sent off for a second booking late on – before Carney Chukwuemeka levelled midway through the first half.

But West Ham went back in front thanks to Antonio and looked comfortable with 10 men for the final 22 minutes despite willingly giving up possession. And to compound matters for Chelsea, £115m signing Moises Caicedo gave away the spot kick late on having come off the bench for his debut.
