Good morning! Here Are Some Major News Headlines In The Newspapers Today: Flood sweeps away mother, four-year old, five others in Lagos

1. A mother, her baby and six other persons, including a man identified simply as Umar are missing after flood induced by a heavy downpour washed them away in the Agege area of Lagos State. The heavy downpour occurred on Thursday.

2. The immediate-past Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Sunday, attributed his achievements and success in politics to the roles President Bola Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari played in his life. Aregbesola made this known in Oyo town, Oyo State.

3. The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has said the government must meet its demands to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal. The union, ahead of its meeting with the FG today, threatened that it would not hesitate to call out workers for industrial action, adding that it only suspended its planned strike.

4. The Central Bank of Nigeria has lifted the limits placed on domiciliary accounts. In a statement by the CBN on Sunday, the new regulation allowed account holders to deposit freely, have unrestricted access to funds in accounts, and make up to $10,000 withdrawals daily.

5. Three yet-to-be-identified persons have reportedly died in a crash along the Ogwashi-Uku-Kwale Road in Delta State. It was gathered that the crash involved a GLK Sport Utility Vehicle with number plate KUJ 326CE, and a bus with the inscription St. Philip’s Anglican Church, Asaba.

6. The Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, has declared June 19, 2023 as the first day of Dhul-Hijjah 1444 AH. This is contained in a statement Sunday night from the council.

7. Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, wife of Adamu Bulkachuwa, Senator who represented Bauchi North in the 9th Assembly, has defended her judicial integrity, saying she never compromised her office. She was reacting to comments by her husband that he used his position to ask favour for his colleagues from his wife, the immediate past President of the Court of Appeal.

8. Ex-Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has opened up on how he was poisoned at the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in December 2018. The former governor disclosed this at a special Thanksgiving service organised in his honour at the St. Peters Deanery, Rumuepirikom, Obio-Akpor, on Sunday.

9. The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has accused the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) of withholding petrol its members paid for more than six months ago. IPMAN, therefore, wants President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the matter to avert another petrol scarcity in the country.

10. Former All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants in the last elections have appealed to President Bola Tinubu and Vice President, Kashim Shettima, to include them in the governance structure. The former aspirants, under the group, APC360, comprises former Assembly, House of Reps, senatorial and governorship aspirants.
