Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon has won Saturday’s House of Assembly election held in Kosofe Constituency 1.
According to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday morning, Obasa polled 11, 649 votes to win the constituency.
For the experienced and resourceful lawmaker , victory is sweeter when it comes the hard way with lots of sweat. Saturday’s victory was made even sweeter than honey after the fall of desperate attempts by several enemies from within the APC to scuttle the day.
At the end of the counting, the wicked enemies who chose to the SDP platform came a distant third after receiving several debilitating punches for both the APC and Labour Party.
Labour Party came out second with 11, 563, while SDP came a distant third with 7, 242. The candidate of the PDP was fourth with 1, 253 votes.
According to the INEC’s Returning Officer, “That Sanni Ganiyu Okanlawon of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
With the victory, Okalawon is returning to the House for the second time.
