Poll projects APC candidate, Okalawon to win Kosofe constituency 1

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Lagos House of Assembly, Kosofe constituency 1, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon, has been projected to win the March 18 assmebly election.

In an independent opinion poll conducted by a team of data analysts and professionals, Okalawon is said to be rated higher than other candidates from other political parties based on four key variables.

The variables, according to the poll, include experience, performance in his first term, the result of the presidential election won by the candidate of his party, the APC, and others which ultimately put the lanky lawmaker ahead of his rivals in the election.

The report, which took into cognisanze several other factors, was an outcome of two weeks opinion polls conducted in the four wards that make up the constituency.

The poll, which was conducted via a combination of house-to-house, personal and phone surveys by trained experts showed that the APC remains the strongest and most popular political party among the constituents and is poised to win the election on Saturday.

“The poll was conducted in the three major Nigerian languages of Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba. In all the cases, the surveys were designed to ensure that the results were accurate and unbiased. The candidate of the APC is the first choice among all the respondents,” an official of poll body disclosed to The Post.

The ward by ward result of the poll is as follows:

Ward A
Most of the constituents were unanimous in their opionion that APC leaders in the ward (Oworonsoki) need to work harder to neutralize the threat of the candidate of the SDP. They are, however convinced that the APC candidate will win the ward despite the threat. According to them, the APC candidate enjoys huge support of the community-based organizations, the youth and the CDAs in the ward.

Opinion: If the APC leaders can put their house in order before the election on Saturday, the party remains the party to beat in the ward with the unwavering support of the people and the traditional ruler of the community.

Ward B

Ifako-Araromi, Soluyi and Oke-Alo. The ward is cosmopolitan in composition with over 64 polling unit. The APC is expected to win the ward with a landslide victory.

Ward C

Anthony-Mende is the home ward of the APC candidate. He is regarded as being very popular among the residents, coupled with his sterling performance in first term. He is expected to reap bountifully from his homebase ahead of other candidates.

Ward D

Ojota-Ogudu, with the composition of the ward, it is expected to be the battle ground for the APC and the SDP candidates. However, the APC is expected to nick victory with the support of notable stakeholders.
