Shettima on ‘Thanks for your support,’ visit to Fayose

The vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kashim Shettima, has expressed his gratitude to former Governor of Ekiti State Ayo Fayose for his support.

Shettima took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to share photos from his visit to Fayose’s residence.

“I paid my brother, former Governor of Ekiti State, H.E. Ayodele Peter Fayose a visit. The great Oshko welcomed us with warmth and rare camaraderie. Thank you for your support and God bless you for hosting me and my team,” he said.

With President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure ending in May, Fayose – a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – has not hidden his conviction that the South should produce the next president.

Weeks after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar emerged as PDP’s presidential candidate in May 2022, the former Ekiti governor insisted that the southern part of Nigeria must produce the country’s president in 2023.

His sentiment is consistent with the G5 or Integrity Group consisting of five PDP governors who are at variance with the office of PDP National Chairman and presidential standard bearer both occupied by northerners.

Incidentally, the APC’s Bola Tinubu is considered a front-runner among the southern candidates.
