EFCC arrests two siblings, 14 others for internet fraud, impounds ten exotic cars

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested two siblings and 14 others in Ilorin over alleged cybercrime and possession of proceeds of fraud.

EFCC Spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, on Friday, said that the suspects were arrested on Thursday following receipt of credible intelligence report.

Among the items recovered from the suspects were eight exotic cars, phones and laptops.

Uwujaren stated that the suspects would be arraigned at the end of the investigation.

In another statement, the EFCC also announced the arrest of nine suspected internet fraudsters in Enugu State.

They were arrested on Friday at the Transekulu and Monarch areas of the capital.


The suspects are: Chukwu Chidiebube Emmanuel, Ebuka Owoh Bonaventure, Stephen Obinna Chukwu, Victor Chimere Opuniju, Justice Ifeanyichukwu Anunobi, Ugwumba Eloka Charles, Okeke ifeanyi Victor, Nduka Ononiwu and Obasi Chisom.

Investigations showed that the suspects always impersonate foreigners to defraud their victims.

Items recovered from them include two vehicles, 26 mobile phones and six laptops.

The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
