Armed men, suspected to be herders, on Saturday, invaded a community in Tse Numgbera, in the Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, and allegedly killed three people during the attack.

It was gathered that the killing came barely two days after six people were killed in Umella village, Mbawa Council Ward, in the LGA.

A resident of the village, who pleaded anonimity, said, “The herders arrived around 4:20pm on Saturday when people were enjoying the pleasant weather and disrupted our peace. Three people were killed during the invasion.”

The Security Secretary of the council, Waku Christopher, who spoke on behalf of the council’s Chairman, confirmed the killing to journalists on Sunday.

“It is true, three people were killed by Fulani herdsmen in their homes at Numgbera on Saturday around 4.20pm,” he said.

Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, said, “I am yet to receive the information.”
