Four burnt to death in Ogun auto accident

Four persons were burnt to death on Friday in a lone accident involving a Mazda bus along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The fatal crash, which occurred around Oniworo, after the Foursquare camp, Ogun State, involved 20 persons.

It was gathered that while four passengers were “burnt beyond recognition 16 others were injured and could be identified.

A spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident .

Okpe said that the lone crash involved a Mazda bus with registration number APP934XH.

She said, “the suspected cause of the crash was speed which led to the loss of control and the Mazda bus rammed into the median strip (road divider) and went into flames.”

She stated that those who sustained injuries have been taken to Victory hospital in Ogere.

She added that the state FRSC Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar, cautioned motorists on speed violation while advising them to obey traffic rules and regulations.

Umar sympathised with the families of the deceased, praying God to strengthen them to bear the losses.
