Following the emergence of Senator Ademola Adeleke at the just concluded governorship election in Osun State, the Oluwo of lwoland, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale, has called on residents and patriots to cooperate with the governor-elect.

In a statement by his press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, posted on his Instagram page, the monarch described Adeleke as courageous for surviving the hurdles of the electioneering process.

While congratulating the governor-elect, Oba Adewale called for collaborative efforts with technocrats for his success for the development of the state.

He wrote, “I congratulate the Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory at the keenly contested poll. He has demonstrated uncommon courage, tenacity to have survived many hurdles. His life is a lesson for many aspiring youths. There is always reward for hard work.

“I look forward to having an Iwo man as the Osun State Governor, if God permits! I pray for divine wisdom, courage and understanding for Senator Ademola Adeleke to effectively manage Osun State affairs.”

Adeleke, a Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, was declared as the winner of the governorship election after scoring 403,371 votes to defeat the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 375,027 votes.

He was subsequently presented with a Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday.

The monarch’s message is a complete volte-face from his attitude before the election.

Prior to the election, Oba Adewale had drummed support for Governor Oyetola, promising to give him 90,000 votes in the election.

“I am confident of delivering 90,000 votes. It is not easy for the governor to move from the status quo and do what is right. He has been paying full salary. Osun is a civil servant state and the people depend on salaries.

“He has been paying debt inherited and didn’t use the money for frivolities. I have told my people to vote for the APC and they will vote for APC. The governor is doing a great job. I believe the person doing a great job should continue. I want all persons to vote peacefully,” the monarch had said.
