EFCC arrests suspected vote-buyers

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested persons suspected to be engaged in vote-buying in the ongoing Ekiti State governorship poll.

Channels Television reports that some of the suspects were paraded at the Oke Ori Omi Area the Division of the Nigeria Police Force.

The suspects were reported to have been caught with monies allegedly used for vote-buying.

Some other persons were also arrested at a private residence with a book containing details of voters of certain voting area, according to Channels Television.

90-year-old votes at Ire-Ifelodun LGA

A 90-year-old woman, Ashake Atogi, exercising her franchise at Polling Unit Bada compound, 001, Irepodun/Ifelodun (Iyin II) Area, Ire/Ifelodun Local Government Area, Ekiti State.

NYSC hails security provision for corps members

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brig. Gen. Muhammad Fadah, has expressed delight at the adequate security provided for corps members working as Independent National Electoral Commission adhoc staff across polling units in the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State.

Fadah, who said that the election has been so far, said, “The corps members in the various polling units are safe”.

The NYSC boss, spoke in Ado Ekiti on Saturday while monitoring the safety of corps members on election duty.

He said, “I have been round to see my corps members, they are all safe and the election has been going calm so far.”

Ex-Fayose’s deputy, Olusola Eleka, votes

The immediate former deputy governor of Ekiti State , Prof. Olusola Eleka has commended the voting process in the ongoing governorship election in the state.

Eleka, who cast his vote at Ward 2,Unit 7, Okeruku, Ikere Ekiti, in Ikere Local Government Area of the state, said there was no hitch and the process was ongoing without any form of harassment in any part of the town.

 

ACP gov candidate denies withdrawal from contest
The candidate of the Action Congress Party in the Ekiti State governorship election, Mrs. Kemi Elebute-Halle, Saturday, denied stepping down from the race.

Elebute-Haile, who spoke at Oke Ayedun in the Ikole Local Government Area, said, “I’m set to win this election. In another 30 minutes, I will be joining my supporters to cast my vote.”

Voters lament non-availability of stamps for ballots

Voting in some units in Ikere Ekiti, Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State was delayed as there was no official stamp of the Independent National Electoral Commission to stamp the ballots.

As of 10 am, voting was yet to begin in the affected units but the accreditation was ongoing while the voters were asked to wait after accreditation.

Visually impaired voter request for help causes stir at polling unit

Request for help by an elderly, visually impaired electorate, who could not identify the logo of her preferred party led to a shouting march among agents of political parties participating in the Saturday’s Ekiti governorship poll at Fajuyi House, Polling 007, Ado Ekiti.

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Biodun Oyebanji, has cast his vote at Unit 003, Ward 06, Ikogosi.

PDP gov candidate, Kolawole, casts his vote

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Ekiti State governorship election, Bisi Kolawole, has cast his vote at Unit 001, Ward 8 in Efon, Efon Alaaye Local Government Area of the state.
