An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has declined a bail application filed by the owner of Hilton Royal Hotel, Ile-Ife, Dr. Ramon Adedoyin.
Adedoyin and six others arrested in connection with the death of a Master’s Degree student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Timothy Adegoke, had been arraigned and remanded till Monday for ruling on their bail application.
Justice Adepele Ojo, in her ruling on the bail application, held that counsel to the defendant had sought bail based on health grounds.
She also noted that the prosecution, in its counter application, said that Adedoyin had already commenced treatment in Abuja.
Although she observed that the charges pressed against Adedoyin were bailable, she noted that they were serious felony charges that could attract jail term.
She then declined the application, saying there was no serious threat to the health of the defendant.
