The bubble has burst for a 54-year Christiana Otukogbe, who allegedly recruited herself and operated as an officer of the Nigeria Police Force several years.
According to reports, the suspect was arrested by the Police at the Ipaja Division of the Lagos Command.
Christiana, The Post gathered met her Waterloo after the police went to Maborukose Street in Ipaja to arrest a criminal suspect, Samson Francis, who incidentally is Christiana Otukogbe’s grandchild. She was alleged to have aided the escape of the suspect by obstructing the Police from performing their duty.
When the information got to the DPO, CSP Tokunbo Aboniwonda, she directed Christiana to meet with her in order to know why she would obstruct officers on duty whereas she was a Police woman.
It was during interrogation that it was discovered that she was not a genuine Police officer and her house was searched. The Police uniform, which she obtained to perform her illegal duties, was recovered as an exhibit.
She eventually confessed that she was not a genuine Police officer despite the fact that she had worked in many places as an officer.
Having been found culpable, the Police subsequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrates Court for obstruction of arrest and impersonation.
When she was arraigned, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Kokoye Olusegun, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence since she pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Dirisu, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Court ordered her remand in custody pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 23rd March, 2022, for mention.
