It has been seven months since the new chairmen of the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Ogun State were sworn into office.
While it can be said that the chairmen have been up and running, it is however unfortunate that all the councils are yet to get Secretary to the Local Government and Supervisors.
My findings revealed that Chairmen of these 20 councils have been running the affairs of the councils alone, with some of them claiming that they have the blessings of Governor Dapo Abiodun to keep performing the roles of both the SLGs and Supervisors.
The surprise thing, however is that about one month ago, the state government announced the appointment of the SLGs, supervisors and SAs but the said appointments only exist on paper up to this moment.
Expectedly, the LG chairmen have continued to spend public funds without due process, no secretary to the local government to sign the extract and several other statutory functions.
It is pertinent to remind them that one day a king is coming that will not recognize Joseph if this illegality is unchecked now.
