Gunmen invade Imo community, kill President-General, six other leaders

Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have killed the President-General of Mmahu autonomous community in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo state, Charles Mgaraho.

Apart from killing the President General, the hoodlums also killed six other leaders of the community.

An indigene of the community, Gift Ihejirika, who disclosed this to our correspondent, said that the killings occured on Tuesday morning.

Apart from the President General, the six other community leaders who were murdered were, Edeme Okoro, Issac Ojenna, Anene Funky, Chasity Paulinus, Ndubuisi Nwabuishi and Ifeyirinwoke Junior.

Another community source told our corespondent that the attackers invaded the houses of their targets and killed them one after the other.

It was gathered that after killing the seven community leaders, the gunmen fled.

One of the sources said, “We are still in a state of confusion. We aren’t yet to understand what really happened. The hoodlums stormed our community and invaded the homes of prominent leaders of our community, killed seven of them, including the president general.

“It was like a warlike situation yesterday. They shot indiscriminately, killed their targets, seven of them before zooming off. The incident had been reported at the police and their bodies removed.”
