Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, will remain in prison in Benin Republic for another six months.
One of his counsels, Yomi Aliyyu, disclosed this on Sunday night.
Aliyyu said that contrary to what was speculated in the news by a lawyer, that Igboho would soon be released, the government of the Republic Benin had renewed the incarceration of Igboho for another six months.
He said this was being done despite the fact that there was no criminal charge in their file in Cotonou and without extradition request from Nigeria.
According to him, he and others would approach the ECOWAS Court which they never obeyed.
Recall that another of Igboho’s lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, had said on Saturday that Igboho would soon be released.
He said on his Facebook page, “Chief Sunday Igboho will be out very soon and there will be massive jubilation across the entire Yoruba land.
“He is no doubt a courageous man. This is very authoritative just that our Yoruba leaders should stop being selfish and allow good to prevail.”
