Billionaire businessman and Executive Chairman, Geregu Power Plant, Femi Otedola, has promised to give the Super Eagles a cash prize of $250,000 if they win the ongoing African Cup of Nations tournament.

The message was delivered to the team by the government delegation to Cameroon, led by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

You will recall that Otedola, famously described as the man with heart of gold, also donated the sum of $50,000 to the Super Eagles at the 2019 edition of AFCON, though the team lost at the Semi Finals to Algeria.

This latest effort by Otedola has further cemented his abiding love for football and humanity in general.

In the past years, Otedola had put smiles on the faces of a number of Nigerians, including the late musician Majek Fashek; Christian Chukwu, a former captain and coach of the Super Eagles; Peter Fregene, a former Green Eagles goalkeeper; Victor Olaotan, an actor; Inih Ebong, a former Associate Professor, Department of Theatre Arts, University of Uyo as well as Sadiq Daba, a broadcaster and actor, who had all been laid up with varied medical challenges.

The list of the beneficiaries of his large-heartedness is inexhaustible. Without a doubt, if the history of biggest philanthropists in Africa were to be documented, Otedola’s name would definitely gain prominence.

Otedola is a delight to professional journalists and biographers. If you choose to write about his uncommon feats as a businessman, you will come up with volumes of work that will most likely intimidate a bibliophile.

Similarly, if you choose to document his philanthropic acts in black and white, your hand may grow tired.
