The main reason I am against the 3rd term ambition of the incumbent House of Representatives member representing Kosofe federal constituency is simple. I have always lived my life based on principle, equity, justice and fairness. These are the pillars on which I place my participation in poltics on.
Most people may not remember this. But it is pertinent to remind our brother about his activities when he led the group that campaigned viciously against any third term dream by any politician. At the time, he must have been unaware that he would one day come to seek a third term ticket. His cries were that no incumbent honourable has any justification to seek a third term.
More importantly, the honorable has served the good people of federal constituency for unbroken 24 years in various capacity since 1999. At various times, he was the youth leader, vice chairman, Special Adviser to the governor, Commissioner and he is currently serving his second term at the national assembly.
Yes, don’t get me wrong. We love because he is our brother and we want the best for him. We therefore think it was high time he looked elsewhere for other lucrative business apart from politics after the expiration of his tenure in 2023. It may be well to remind us that the lawmaker was brought to the Kosofe political limelight in 1999 by the late Barr Tunde Braimoh.
He was among the Kosofe federal constituency delegations who visited APC National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ikoyi residence to truncate the 3rd term ambition of Hon Dayo Bush Alebiosu in 2014 prior to 2015 general Elections and he was a strong voice against his benefactor and vocal senator at the 5th and 6th assembly, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora between 2010- 2011.
The No vacancy in Kosofe federal constituency campaign of the incumbent lawmaker is therefore an insult to all of us who have struggled to build our party. Everyone has a constitutional right to aspire, including the incumbent lawmaker, as enshrined by our party and Nigeria constitution.
