Some deadly gunmen, suspected to be armed robbers, invaded the staff quarters of the Polytechnic of Ibadan in the early hours on Monday, and shot a lecturer, identified as Mr Okedara Emmanuel, of the Department of Biology.
Mr Soladoye Adewole, the Public Relations Officer of the institution confirmed the sad incident to newsmen.
The attack occurred at about 12:30 a.m at the North campus of Ibadan Polytechnic.
He added that Emmanuel, was rushed to the University College Hospital, Ibadan for treatment of the gunshot wounds
But Adewole said that no life was lost in the attack.
The matter has been reported to the police and security has been scaled up at the campus, he added.
