A Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ignatius Alimeke and three students were reportedly injured following violent clashes involving rival cult groups operating in two public secondary schools in Ogun State.

According to reports, the bloody clash occurred on Monday between students of Egba High School Asero and Asero Secondary School in Abeokuta, with the rival student cultists feuding against each other.

For nearly 90 minutes, chaos and pandemonium enveloped the two schools, which are about 250 metres apart, as innocent students and teachers fled in different directions.

The cultists were said to have hurled stones, bottles and other objects at one another.

In the ensuing confusion, the DPO of Adatan Police Station, Abeokuta, Ignatius Alimeke, who led operatives to the scene to quell the raging violence, was hit by stones.

As he laboured to fend off hail of stones, one of them caught him on the right side of his forehead, leaving a deep cut.

He was subsequently rescued from the scene by his colleagues.

Three students were also said to have also been injured during the fight.
